This is driving me mad. Just watched final episode. Why did Alfie and Owen need to change money? Teams haven't been shown doing this before?

They have been shown doing it in previous series. They're given a mix of currencies at the start and didn't want to get to the end with GBP and not be able to use it so changed it all to local currency as it was the last country they'd be visiting.

I recently watched the first series, and at the end of that they had to pay entry to get to the final checkpoint. One of the teams didn't have local money and had to find a way to change it. I can definitely see the logic in changing. l your money once you know you're in the last country.

They can’t show everyone changing money for every country. That would take up the hour long programme. Loved the follow up programme where they gave away some of the tricks behind how the filming is done.
