We've just got Disney and wondered if the wonderful MNetters had any good recommendations?

I rediscovered the War of the Worlds series and we are currently watching that. I saw the first series when it came out and thought they had left the story there - didn't realise Disney had picked it up.

Thanks Smile

Only Murders in the Building
The Bear
Shogun
Welcome to Earth

(Films)
See How They Run
Holes
The Last Duel
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Thanks @evtheria they look interesting. I saw Three Billboards when it came out but it's definitely due a rewatch

I like Abbott Elementary. Also Jilly Cooper's Rivals is coming later this year which I'm very excited about.

LilianaVikavanovich · 28/05/2024 14:02

I binge watched Scandal
Renegade Nell
911

I’ve finished with Disney + for now , but miss it and will be reinstalling it ready for Rivals

CormorantStrikesBack · 28/05/2024 14:03

The Americans if you never watched it previously.

FrothyCothy · 28/05/2024 14:05

Second The Bear, it’s brilliantly done.

Cecilly · 28/05/2024 14:06

I just finished Renegade Nell. It was pretty good

afaloren · 28/05/2024 14:07

Only Murders in the Building
The Bear

New Shardlake series is supposed to be very good.

rumred · 28/05/2024 14:16

Renegade Nell is superb.
All of us strangers is odd and beautiful

Mothership4two · 28/05/2024 14:25

Making a list

Thank you all

I thought Renegade Nell was a bit crap.

loved:
Only Murders in the Building
The Artful Dodger
various Marvel films/series
Sleepy Hollow (although it got a bit repetitive and silly)

Also managed to finally watch the last couple of series of Modern Family and am currently binging Greys Anatomy which I've never seen before.

Just noticed they have Firefly!

I'm sure I've watched loads

DrapeyDreamer · 28/05/2024 22:01

Thought Shogun was fantastic - show of the year for me so far! Intense though.

Also enjoyed Murders in the Building - very different from Shogun - lot more lighthearted!

Coalfacebigtits · 28/05/2024 22:04

No I just pay the subscription cos they’ve been dangling the carrot of Jilly Cooper rivals for over a year. When’s it coming?! Must cancel until they give the date 🤦‍♀️
tbf the kids watch it.

Makegoodchoices · 28/05/2024 22:11

I tried Shogun but fifteen mins went by and no women spoke (unless I missed one) so I kind of gave up on it.

Extraordinary was fabulous, but depends on your sense of humour. My family is mostly there for the Marvel content. And Star Wars. 🤓

Mothership4two · 28/05/2024 22:14

I'm not big on Marvel or Star Wars (putting it mildly).

I did love Firefly when it was originally shown so might try that again

holidaydramalama · 28/05/2024 22:17

Greys anatomy
S19
Only murders
Criminal minds

BakingQueen14 · 28/05/2024 22:18

My suggestions don't really fit together but never mind...
Extraordinary,
Renegade Nell,
A small light (about the lady who hid Anne Franc- I'm planning to watch it again),
It's a sin (was on channel 4 previously but I've watched it again on disney),
Black cake,
The Drop out

goldenlloyd · 28/05/2024 22:22

Abbott Elementary is lovely, I second that! Funny, sweet, touching - a The Office-type set up in an inner city US primary school.

I know you say no Star Wars but Andor is a cut above. Some brilliant actors and fantastic writing. A slow burn but with an incredible pay off.

FrothyCothy · 28/05/2024 22:23

Oh yes, Extraordinary was fantastic!

Definitely give it more than 15 mins! Think the female characters were actually the strongest and most powerful in the show!

Makegoodchoices · 28/05/2024 22:46

@DrapeyDreamer I heard that afterwards but I think I wasn’t in the right place for it if that makes sense. I often find that if real life is a bit tough, I just need comedy nonsense for my entertainment!

Yes! I thoroughly enjoyed that too.

No good if you don't like rude humour and swearing though

Yes, it's excellent, and the female characters are particularly interesting. I can't imagine giving up on something after 15 minutes for that reason.

The Americans is brilliant too. The X-Files is on Disney+.

And I've been watching Brothers and Sisters, which is enjoyable in a noughties nostalgia, slightly soapy way. Good cast too.

Modern Family is great. Oh, and Bob's Burgers, which I LOOOOVE.
