Someone has uploaded the entire program series on YouTube. And the quality is fantastic. A friend also told me they are shown on Sky too, but I've never come across them.

I haven't watched since I was around 8 or 9 and those episodes I remember scared the living daylights out of me. Now enjoying a blast from the past afternoon.

What I never appreciated at the time, were the well known actors and actresses. Currently watching Susan George and Brian Blessed. 😁

First episode had Pamela Stephenson who was breathtakingly good looking.

Also so many women in house coats! 🤣👌

These were on talking pictures a while ago. Talking Pictures is really good for TV and films from the 1970s and earlier.

Havingawobbley · 26/05/2024 21:55

The theme tune and the opening credits used to scare the shit out of me.

Even when I've watched it recently it's gave me the shivers.

xsquared · 07/06/2024 23:31

Looks like they've been blocked recently. 😕

StandardSize14 · 07/06/2024 23:34

der der der derderder der der der 😃

Watermelon197 · 07/06/2024 23:40

There was a similar series on itv at the same sort of time as TOTU I think but I can’t remember the name, but I can remember one of the episodes where people got locked in a sauna!

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 07/06/2024 23:41

Was it the twilight zone?

Or was there something called armchair thrillers?

They're often on Sky Arts around 6:30 / 7:00pm but yes, they've been on YouTube for years. Some better than others but great fun.

I love the one with the husband that's always late and the house lift. And Flypaper is so chilling.

I thought the Fly Paper was a very good one too.

IdaPolly · 07/06/2024 23:45

I like the taxidermied B&B guests one too.

IdaPolly · 07/06/2024 23:47

Yes, the always late husband one is good.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/06/2024 13:25

There's one with Elaine Stritch who gets her own back on her very stuffy husband . At the end she's lounged on the sofa smoking , drinking ......

And one where the man;s mistress is going blind , he has his wife killed off so he can be with his OW . She has life changing surgery <hurrah> she can see . (Remember his wife has just died ...)

Hammer House of Horror were brilliant .
They fit a lot into TotU , but the HHoH were longer

What’s this one? I dread to ask as I’m always late..

@Pinkfluffypencilcase - think that's the one with the gruff old husband and his wife - she's late for the airport so weife tell the chauffeur to leave as they were only dropping him at work except he was stuck in the house lift (mansion) ...

FloofPaws · 08/06/2024 14:14

I liked the one with the pied piper type clothing- won't say anymore as it'll spoil it.
Really hated the one with the boarding school and bullying
Generally loved all the TOTU though, read the books and got me into thrillers and horrors

I really enjoy them but the misogyny is so shocking isn’t it! Thank go things have moved on!

JaneIves · 08/06/2024 14:31

The Prunella scales sauna one still gives me the willies!

Littlepenguintwins · 08/06/2024 14:31

I don’t think it was TOTU but I watched something once where a young woman got on a train with some strange characters and it’s transpired that she would never be able to get off ? It really scared me but I can’t remember what it was ? Does anyone know ?

wizzywig · 08/06/2024 14:43

I don't, but there are some still floating about on YouTube from different channels.

VanillaImpulse · 08/06/2024 22:27

I tried to find the flypaper one but even though it's got the title on YouTube it goes to a different one

If you've got Sky Arts channel it'll probably come on eventually. I can see it if I click on the second one down. It goes to Facebook then the correct one comes on. Or Now TV if you have that. (I dont)
