Rob and Rylans Grand Tour

This is adorable! I love the two of them as individuals but seeing them in a show together is heart warming. They just seem to fill each others cups so much and so genuinely.

I'm enjoying it massively. They're both so likeable - I have such a soft spot for Rob Rinder!

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Good switching off after a busy weekend Sunday evening viewing

I feel like we are watching them fall in love. Even if they aren't a couple they have clearly developed a very deep friendship from this. A wonderful joyful happy programme.

And it's so interesting to see Rob's obvious vulnerability if you're used to only seeing him as sharp tongued, no-nonsense Judge Rinder. Just gorgeous, can't wait to watch the rest of the series.

I was coming here to start a thread of no one else had! Best thing I’ve seen in ages; clever but warm, beautiful and total honesty from the pair of them.

I loved this too, and have just been reading up about Byron as I found it all fascinating!

I love how Rylan is gently encouraging Rob to try things he wouldn't otherwise do (although he did not suit his drag outfit at all!), and think Rylan's attitude that his make up is his mask and when he takes it off he is back to being Ross, is a very astute way of coping with all the media madness.

I didn’t really get the drag. Isn’t it playing into an out of date stereotype that because a man is gay they want to dress as a woman? Rob Rinder didn’t want to do it, it seemed to me.

I did enjoy the programme.

I agree that Robert didn't want to put the drag clothes on. He had a bit of pressure there I think !
I loved the programme though
I loved the history of it and how they both interacted with each other. Such different personalities.
It was telling that Rylan wanted to talk about his divorce and his subsequent breakdown and Robert didn't.
I didn't know much about Byron or the grand tourers, it was informative.

Now sitting on the sofa watching . I have an upset stomach so no work today.... 😔 😔

This program is so lovely, the 2 men obviously have a deep affection for each other, i hope they are a couple soon.

I can't really see R and R as a couple , more just good friends who respect each other (but you never know !)

I really enjoyed it too although felt the drag element was a bit superfluous, although it was interesting to hear about current attitudes in Italy.

If anyone wants to know more about Lord Byron there is a great four parter on The Rest is History podcast at the moment.

As a Georgette Heyer fan I was excited to hear obscure Regency slang in use on prime time BBC. Great show, and DH (who is very much not a Byron/Regency fan) enjoyed it too.

I absolutely loved this, great to see it's been so popular. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I enjoyed all the history of Venice, the Grand Tours and Lord Byron and all.

They have a lovely relationship but Rylan is coming across as the slightly dominant one of the team at the moment , with him supporting /encouraging Rob in coming out of his comfort zone.

I hope the next few episodes show a vulnerability in Rylan and whereby Rob can show his support and encouragement to Rylan in uncomfortable situations.

(I really hope I worded that , in a way that I was thinking it in my head !!)

I so hope they don't become a couple for that reason.

They both need an uncomplicated, unconditional supportive friendship bond between them ....not romance .

Just that , I have been on threads before where only episode 1 has been shown on TV on the scheduled time but posters are talking about things happening in episode 3 !

I think it's only fair to go at the pace of the slowest viewer so go with episode by episode.

I did not know that bit about gondolas 🫣.

I often think that Rylan is underestimated. He’s an intelligent man and I think the programme showed his emotional intelligence too. Venice is a favourite place and it looked glorious.

The two of them complement one another so well.

I wonder how Rob and Rylan came across each/found each other to become such good friends?

It is not as if they meet in the same social circles ?
