I've finally finished watching Supernatural

I know I'm massively behind the times, I've watched it on and off for years and always loved it, putting off watching the last 3 seasons because I didn't want it to end but I've just finished watching the final episode and cried like a baby and felt the need to share.

That's it really! It had its ups and downs, but what a fantastic series. I suspected it would end like that but I still cried. Now I'm at a loss as to what to watch next...!

I loved Supernatural (even met Crowley (Mark Sheppard) at a con last year and he's even more amazing than Crowley! Such a lovely bloke!
You been addicted to the vampire Diaries and The Originals? Okay. How about Grimm? Lucifer? ::swoon::

user8800 · 08/04/2024 20:00

Huge spn fan here, but s15 was awful :(

I won't watch s15 again...I'll stop at s13

MotherofKitties · 08/04/2024 20:01

No way!! That must have been amazing! I'd love to meet any of the Supernatural cast, I think they're all fantastic but Jensen in particular is just a beautiful beautiful specimen of a man.

I genuinely feel bereft now - I've dragged the series out for so long and now it's officially over. Definitely need something to get hooked into now! Done Vampire Diaries, really enjoy The Boys and Gen V was/is good too. My hunt shall continue and I shall have to look into attending some Comicons in the future...

I have been thinking about rewatching it from the beginning on Netflix, but that's going to take some time. I remember saving the last half of the final series and not watching for ages as didn't want it to be over.

I couldn't get into the Vampire Diaries. I enjoyed Medium and Buffy.

OP have you checked out Misfits? Totally different format and British but quite wacky (and ruder than Supernatural!).

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 08:40

@Mothership4two I actually loved Misfits - I watched it when it came out and thought it had a really poignant ending.

I've never watched the Originals so I might try that. Watched 3 Body Problem that came out recently and really enjoyed that; some excellent acting and quite different - might be up your street!

My problem is that I love anything like Supernatural/The Witcher/The Boys so the moment it comes out I binge it. I've only lasted as long as I have with Supernatural because I used to have to wait for it to be out on DVD as I never had the channel and then as stuff got moved online I wanted to wait until it was on a decent streaming service with good quality, so I've done the last few seasons on Prime.

The chances of finding a series I haven't seen before, with a solid few seasons in it is now, unfortunately, remote 😬

True blood???

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 08:45

@MamaBanana12 True Blood is the best! Absolutely loved it! That is a good shout actually - definitely re-watchable. Eric's character is one of my all time favourites 👌🏻

Blood Ties (only 2 seasons though)

LaWench · 09/04/2024 08:49

I'm rewatching Supernatural with DD at the moment, upto Season 8. Such a good show. I get to rewatch it again when DD2 is old enough. 😏

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 09:05

@BitchyMcBitchFaceBitch Ohh I haven't heard of that one! I'm going to look into it now - thanks for the tip!

Closest show really is Grimm.

Soubriquet · 09/04/2024 09:14

Looooooove supernatural. I rewatch it on many occasions

Try Grimm

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 09:15

@NoMoreCheddar Do you know what I started watching that years ago, enjoyed it, but the other half got fed up of it so ended up forgetting all about it - that's definitely one I can pick up again!

I loved Supernatural because it was so gritty & not just teen drama.

However, I hated the end. I thought it destroyed the characters. Not what happened, but how it happened.

Mumoftwoboysaged4and5 · 09/04/2024 09:24

Try Lockwood & Co on Netflix, it’s brilliant and has two best friends hunting ghosts with a new sidekick. It’s British and set in London.

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 09:25

@MermaidMummy06 I know what you mean. The last few seasons definitely weren't on a par with the earlier ones and at times it felt repetitive.

That being said, it's still one of my favourite series of all time for the same reasons you said; it was dark and gritty, not just another light and fluffy angsty take on things slightly supernatural. That and the characters are superb - I love Dean and Castiel in particular; Crowley too, but Castiel was a stroke of genius.

@Mumoftwoboysaged4and5 I've seen that and I agree, it was very good, thoroughly enjoyed it, and good concept too. I hope there's more to come from it!

@MamaBanana12 Isn't he just 😂

I like True Blood, but compared to the books it is a bit of a shit tv program

MermaidMummy06 · 09/04/2024 12:36

@MotherofKitties ahhh. Castiel. Yes, definitely my favourite character.

I rather liked Rowena, too. Such a complex character.

Grimm is a good yarn. True Blood. I'm off to look up blood ties.

Negangirlxx · 09/04/2024 12:57

Castiel broke my heart in his final episode. The most gut wrenching final scene for a character, I’ve ever had to sit through.

Jensen destroyed me even more in the final episode. It was so sad that Dean’s death was like that, after everything he had survived before.

I also wish they had got to do the original planned ending that the boys hint at, cos it sounds so much better than the one we got, thanks to bloody Covid.

If you like Jensen, watch The Boys. It’s a fab show, and he’s in season 3. Soldier Boy is a brilliant character.

I also like Good Omens which is about angels and demons, and the apocalypse. It’s worth a watch if you haven’t seen it! It’s got David Tennant and Michael Sheen, and they are brilliant.

I loved Rowena!
She was brilliant!

MotherofKitties · 09/04/2024 14:18

@Negangirlxx I literally sobbed during the final episode. I haven't cried like that at a tv series or film in a very long time - thank god I was watching it by myself otherwise my other half would have thought I was unhinged 😆

Also, watched The Boys. It's brilliant. I think it's so well done and yes, Jensen as Solider Boy has not escaped my attention...
