guy ritchie thing. vinnie jones etc. is anyone else watching?
i'm only on episode two but the violence has made me wince and thank god i'm not involved with coke dealing lunatics etc etc.
i really like it tbh and the main man reminds me a bit of jamie dornan or david gandy. can't decide which. probably a cousin of them both tbh.

I've just finished it. It's great, very Guy Ritchie if you're into Snatch, Lock Stock etc. I love Susie Glass!!

If you're flinching at the violence already, keep a cushion handy to hide behind Grin

sweatervest · 10/03/2024 21:15

oooh thanks re: cushion!!!

am well impressed that you've already finished it!!!!
i want to see the actual gentlemen film again but it's not on netflix

Yes, just finished ep 2. Enjoying it, although very grisly.

imip · 10/03/2024 21:19

Dh and I finished it v quickly - both loved it. DH does love Guy Ritchie shows though.

Lead guy is very handsome and lots of familiar actors in the programme.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 10/03/2024 21:23

We finished it yesterday. It was ok, was a little bit underwhelmed if I'm honest.

It was like Guy Ritchie had tried to stretch a film out into a series, there seemed to be a lot of filler, and I was disappointed at the lack of action from Vinnir Jones. It was like he was there just because it was a Guy Ritchie film.

The main guy was in The Inbetweeners film, he was the rep was who was seeing Carly and ended up snorting Jay's shit at the end. Took us ages to remember where we knew him from!

sweatervest · 11/03/2024 08:04

Oh!!!!! Inbetweeners!!!!!! I totally remember him now!!!!!!

I love him in the gentleman and there cheers that he's not still a mean person like he was in the Inbetweener.

Main guy probs more known for the Divergent movies. Is this a spin off from the film with Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam and Hugh Grant?

Rosieleerose · 12/03/2024 22:46

I remember the main guy Theo James from a really good Kay Mellor series called A Passionate Woman. He started with Billie Piper and was really good in it.

Someone also mentioned about Vinnie Jones. He is always in Guy Richie movies and is always incredibly bad.
However in this one his acting has really improved and I was pleasantly surprised.

That was me who said Vinnie Jones. I agree, he was better in this film, but his character might as well as not have been there as I don't he really added anything to the story. It was felt like because it was a Guy Richie film, then VJ had to be in it, despite having no need for him. That was disappointing.

beguilingeyes · 13/03/2024 09:42

Theo James was Mr Pamuk who died in Lady Mary's bed in S1 of Downton Abbey. He was in Sanditon as well. Gorgeous man.

murphys · 13/03/2024 09:52

I will be watching the last episode tonight.

I have enjoyed it so far.

@sweatervest it is not a show to watch while you are eating a meal is all I will say. There is a bit of blood in most episodes.

I love Vinnie Jones. He is just....there. 😁

But he has to be there, as it's Guy Ritchie..

murphys · 13/03/2024 09:53

Theo James is just lovely btw.

I had a filthy dream about him after binging the Divergent movies. 😂

Moveoverdarlin · 13/03/2024 09:56

I’m not a massive fan of Guy Ritchie stuff but I’m really enjoying this. On Episode 4 and there have been some real laugh out loud moments. Whilst Theo James is drop dead handsome, the brother steals the show for me.

Allfur · 13/03/2024 13:26

Guy richie stuff is all a bit big dick swinging for me, but I will watch it with my dh who loves that sort of shit, hopefully I'll enjoy it a bit

CrushingOnRubies · 13/03/2024 14:38

I've watched first 2 episodes. Really enjoying it .

SpttyMaldoon · 13/03/2024 19:20

Watched episode 1 and liked it but not loved it, skipped the last 10 minutes, wasn’t interested in the brother and the chicken video. Is he this obnoxious on all episodes?

I didn’t love the dialogue, seems very unnatural and wordy.

I only know the main guy from The White Lotus. His wife is an Irish actress that was on Flaked, don’t know if anyone’s seen it.

they seem to be a very low key couple. I think he’s absolutely gorgeous and may come back just for him.

Dartmoorcheffy · 13/03/2024 19:25

Finished it last night. Really enjoyed it and hope there's a second series.

EasternStandard · 13/03/2024 19:25

I’m not great with violence but really enjoying it

Moanranger · 13/03/2024 19:35

Watched about half an hour. Not for me. Very stilted dialog & what was second son’s motivation for saving his brother’s ass? I would have told him to do one.
Also, Daniel Ing has to be very carefully directed or he turns into a giant ham, as is the case here.
Guy Ritchie boy’s club cliche.

Rollergirl11 · 13/03/2024 21:11

Watched first episode tonight. Some spectacularly bad acting. Also don’t know how they’ve managed to give Peter Serafinawicz a shoddy scouse accent given that he is a genuine scouser. Will keep going with it but so far fairly non plussed.

MimiHendrix · 13/03/2024 21:14

I binged the whole thing. It was good ‘Guy Ritchie’ fun to pass the time, but the acting was atrocious.

That main guy was as wooden as a plank and had two expressions. Obviously went to the Sharon-from-Eastenders Acting School. The Susie one was no better. Spoilt it, really. Would’ve been far better with some more charismatic, talented actors.

DH told me to watch The Gentleman. I was all meh but then he said it was Theo James and my brain-mouth filter failed and I said, "he's hot as fuck". Oops. DH fortunately has no ego issues and laughed at me.

I've watched it and apart from it causing insomnia watching it before bed, I really enjoyed it.

CaterhamReconstituted · 13/03/2024 21:17

What an absolutely ridiculous show. Everyone talks like some exaggerated posho or in Cockney Shakespeare. Ludicrous plot and overly violent. The two lead characters are both very good looking.

Edited

If you're going to continue watching it thrn you need to watch the mast 10 mins, the chicken bit has relevance.

CrushingOnRubies · 13/03/2024 21:35

It's got a cracking cast too
