Horrible seeing Patrick blame her

OP posts:
rainbowruthie · 07/05/2024 20:13

That was so powerful.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2024 20:19

But clear this up for me, the Vicar didn't rape her, did he? Inapropriate touchy-feely is not quite the same.

Southeastdweller · 07/05/2024 20:22

He sexually assaulted her and your phrasing of it @fleurneige is really horrible.

fleurneige · 07/05/2024 20:30

And the answer is. Did he rape her or not? Surely there is a big difference, even if both are wrong.

excelledyourself · 07/05/2024 20:50

Oh dear. I'm so disappointed that they have written Patrick's reaction like that, however brief it was.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2024 20:59

@fleurneige vicar sexually abused her

He stuck his hand down her knickers

OP posts:

But Patrick thinks he raped her. He didn't. Very unpleasant misuse of power and sexual assault- but rape is very different.

lazymum99 · 07/05/2024 21:16

Patrick was told by Elaine what happened. Yolanda had told Elaine the ‘details’.
I am gobsmacked at a serious sexual assault being refered to as ‘inappropriate touchy feely’.
I hope that poster was just not aware of the storyline

Patrick never once said what Elaine told him, and we didn't hear what she said, so how have you come to the conclusion that he thinks Yolande was raped?

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2024 22:02

I don't think Patrick thinks she was raped as was told on the phone what happened by Linda's mum

murasaki · 08/05/2024 00:16

I thought it was a briliant two hander. They do tend to do those well. Patrick struggled with his old school masculinity re wanting to punch him, but listened in the end to how Yolande wanted to handle it. When he stopped thinking about the affront to 'his woman' and by extension him, and started listening to her as a person, it got somewhere.

Spot on. Yolande was understandably finding it difficult to explain how she felt and how she wanted to proceed, but Patrick modified his response as he listened to her. Fabulous portrayal of distress and devotion to each other.

thisoldcity · 08/05/2024 10:50

I think Elaine saying it over the phone also meant that we didn't have to hear the details again - EE assumes we all know what happened so it was a sensitive way of not rehashing what he did. I thought it was a good way of doing it.

thisoldcity · 08/05/2024 10:52

I also felt it was realistic that Patrick's initial reaction was 'off' but then was moderated once he actually listened and heard what she was saying.

the80sweregreat · 08/05/2024 11:56

Agree that Patrick speaking to Elaine was a good idea.

newtlover · 08/05/2024 13:04

agreed excellent episode although I think in reality it would have taken longer for Patrick to have come round to appreciating Yolandes point of view and as PP said lovely that it was all framed in the context of their relationship

re 'was she raped' - the sw are in a way respecting Yolande's privacy - she doesn't want people knowing (and maybe visualising etc) what exactly happened to her body
I suspect it was 'sexual assault by penetration' which IIRC carries the same sentence potentially as rape

Yes and I liked what Yolande said about the differences with how older women were taught vs younger.
She found her anger !

Jellykat · 08/05/2024 19:59

I'm hoping Levi will unearth the other complaints against the Pastor! Give the victims some justice

Felt sure the elusive Junior would turn up, shame..

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/05/2024 20:06

I hope Levi finds the other complaints or or this would have been for nothing

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/05/2024 22:07

Poor Elaine

Tho now she knows about the kiss

I can't work out how beals Eels actually makes a living - the squares residents don't eat there much and strangers don't come onto the square ......

And how does a pub support Elaine George 2 girls and Linda all taking a salary from it ?

OP posts:
AutumnalLeaves38 · 09/05/2024 23:32

And don't forget a wage for Tracey"Phil-Mitchell-Best-Sex-I-Ever-Had" Barmaid, too!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 09/05/2024 23:34

Was ever so subtle, but did I detect Bianca may rather like Levi?
