We try to watch an episode of a TV series or two in the evenings as part of family time and an attempt to get the kids off their gaming devices. What do you recommend? Kids are boys, 13 and 10.

We enjoy watching:
Bake off (and Junior Bake Off)
Masked Singer/Dancer
I Can See Your Voice
Pottery Throw Down
Traitors

Going to try Masterchef and the new Gladiator series.

we like true crime docs watching together

spearthatbroc · 13/01/2024 17:30

border force control is also enjoyed by me two and one i don’t mind watching too!

drmansplainer · 13/01/2024 17:43

Ghosts is fab for that age. The naughty jokes mostly go over their heads.

Also Malcolm in the Middle, Wednesday and Lockwood and co (though the last one is a bit scary if they're sensitive)

UsernameChangerRanger · 13/01/2024 17:46

Yonderland if you want to go down the 6 idiots path

Doppelgangers · 13/01/2024 17:47

Young Sheldon or big bang theory would be great at those ages.

I also second the Malcom in the middle.

idontlikealdi · 13/01/2024 17:58

12 yo Dts love:

Masterchef, junior masterchef, American masterchef, Australian masterchef (spot the theme?!)

Young Sheldon

The Repair Shop

Masked Singer

Grand designs

The Dog House

Dogs behaving badly

The Yorkshire Vet

Kim's convenience is very funny.

Have you watched sweet tooth?

Manifest, but there's one episode that's an 18 I think.

We're currently enjoying Abstract The Art of Design.

My life with the Walter boys was OK.

I feel like this should be my specialist subject, but all of a sudden I can't think!

TrappedPotato · 13/01/2024 18:23

Ghosts. My 12 year old loves it.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/01/2024 18:26

The Middle - similar to Malcolm in the Middle but more modern and probably funnier..

Blackadder

Sunset6 · 13/01/2024 18:34

Enola Holmes

DarkDarkNight · 13/01/2024 22:33

Task Master would be a good one, my son also enjoyed Alan Carr’s Picture Slam.

For ‘tween’ tv I have watched with my 10 year old and we have both enjoyed I would recommend The Secrets of Sulphur Springs on Disney+, The Unlisted and Sweet Tooth both on Netflix. My son likes Stranger Things as well, I thought it would be a bit dark for him but he was fine.

Agree 100% with Malcolm In The Midde. My 10 year old adored it and The Middle too. Modern Family would be a good one too.

Closertinydancer · 13/01/2024 22:39

DS loved The American Office.

Also “A League of their Own”

Goddessonahighway · 13/01/2024 22:40

Murder she wrote. Agatha Christies.

TheBestUsernamesAreGone · 13/01/2024 22:47

Yes this is great. The tv series with Neil Patrick Harris not the film.

Another vote for taskmaster.

MissBattleaxe · 13/01/2024 22:56

Taskmaster and ghosts very popular here

Also Friday night dinner but have stopped watching that for now as there's some pretty adult content

It was originally a channel 5 show, if they have a catch up channel try there, if not you can buy it on Amazon I think

Thro · 13/01/2024 23:56

If you enjoy bake off, have u tried Handmade: Britain’s Best Woodworker on Channel 4? It follows a similar format to bake off but with woodworking.
