Hidden Assets - Series 2 starts tonight - Saturday 2nd December 2023 BBC4 9:00pm

I remember the first series as having quite a complicated plot, and as is usual with me got a bit lost.

But it was an interesting blend of Irish crime noir and some Belgian noir as well!

It looks like it might be following on from series 1 in which case I hope they do a recap.

I thought this rang a bell, and i vaguely remember the bearded Belgian guy, but I think what probably happened was I gave up on S1 cos it seemed a bit dull. S2E1 seems much the same, all a bit by numbers.

I'm in! Just trying to remember how bad Bibi was, or if she was being manipulated by the father in law....
Who could possibly be the mole?
And who is the dude rocking up in Ireland?
Also need a recap!

I assumed there wasn't a mole, as such, just the murderous cleaning lady / hacker of De Jong's computer? I quite like it, as the subtitles mean I have to concentrate and not scroll my phone at the same time!

I did find it a bit slow, but was interested but would have liked more of a recap from series 1.

Unfortunately I fell asleep half way through the second episode but am wanting to find out more.

Has the lead female Irish detective change her hair colour, or is it someone totally different?!!

I think Bibi or someone did claim there was a mole in the Belgian team, time will tell. Meantime the journo was casting aspersions on Bearded Guys integrity. I wouldnt mind the blonde lead detective coming back as she did have more of a rapport with Bearded. The pacing seems to be very slow for ages then loads happens.

Have now watched the 2nd episode and am definitely intrigued now.

Some of it is quite slow, but then it goes into overdrive sequence.

Haven't quite worked out the office politics (Ireland) but am finding the Belgium detective less tiresome that I remember thinking he was in series 1.

I thought it was going to be week by week. May try and watch as a "binge" as I have had to accept my brain doesn't retain relevant information from something I watched a week ago!

Have now finished it, and have a question about the ending, but not sure if that would be a spoiler for those watching week by week! Although did confirm my suspicion about one of the characters.

I found the new lead female director as bit wooden and this distracted me a bit.

But over all found it intriguing, even though I got hopelessly lost with all the plot twists, or more the number of false leads they followed.

Very sad about the grumpy detective I had only recently found more sympathetic.

Is the actress who plays the public face of the bid for the docks, the actress who was in Cardinal. I looked it up and may have got her name wrong, but she looked so familiar and with recognisable mannerisms.

So it seems. I didn't recognise her, though. I didn't reckon much to Cardinal, but if I remember right, my comment at the time was that her performance was excellent, she seemed to have walked in from a much better production.

Thanks for confirming that. As I said upthread I'm bad on faces and rely on hair.

And obviously in this part she had very styled hair (which I thought wasn't very flattering) but if I remember right, in Cardinal she wasn't that sort of character at all.

We binge watched it so won't say too much except l managed watch it right through thinking Bibi was the little boys grandson and her exh, his dad was her son . Not sure it was her clothes /hairstyle /mannerisms or whatever but l was really surprised when the penny dropped.

I've been watching this at TV pace, but was under the impression, for some reason, that this week's episodes were the last. But clearly, not so, and it will finish next weekend. Got pretty exciting from about ep #3 onwards, I'd say.

Thought the ending was pretty disappointing (but then, they often are), and they went and killed off Christian! But overall S2 was much better than S1, I thought.

Okay, have been waiting to ask this as I was waiting to be able to discuss in a spoiler way.

This is embarrassing, but I really am hopeless with faces, who was it Bibi met with right at the end?

Obviously changes the ending depending on who it is!
