Is it just me or are EE storylines getting bleaker? Rape followed by a psychotic abuser blackmailing and emotionally torturing his victim. A few weeks ago we had a child kidnap story and another woman facing a similar ordeal. Sadistic and misogynistic imo.

I agree with this. There have been multiple rapists/sexual offenders (Graham, Theo, Dean) walking around subjecting women and their children to terrible ordeals with no consequences. It all seems a bit gratuitous. Rape is obviously a very serious issue and it feels as if EE almost trivalise it by merging rape storylines with ridiculous secondary events.

Stacey is almost raped but the big story is Freddie hitting her attacker and the ensuing cover-up. The sexual assault itself is basically forgotten.

Linda is raped but that's now turned into a ridiculous storyline with this false confession to save George.

The only rapist who faced his just desserts was Lewis...who raped a man.

Lewis was never charged for raping Ben.

The only EE character who was convicted of rape was James Wilmott-Brown, back in 1988. But he was sentenced for only three years.
