Will is on fire on L&L tonight - taking the pee and not afraid to call out bullying / bad behaviour!

purpleme12 · 06/11/2023 23:58

It is short. Someone upthread said it was half the time

Slightly off topic, but BB says Matty is a "doctor working in geriatrics".

I was trying to figure out how on earth he got leave for this purpose as it's notoriously difficult to take time out of training as a junior doctor unless you are between your FY2 year and the start of speciality training however it would be unusual for him to be at this stage of training at just 24.

Couldn't find him on the GMC register, but could find an article naming him as a high achiever from his sixth form and that he went on to med school.

So...with the timing of when he went to med school, I think he must have finished med school this year and decided to take a year out before starting FY1, however this confused me because of the statement that he "works in geriatrics".

Went down the rabbit hole and actually think he's worked as a HCA in a nursing home, likely to help fund himself throughout med school, rather than worked as a doctor on a geriatric ward.

I realise this all seems like I'm nit picking, but it feels disingenuous to me to announce yourself as a doctor to the nation, when you haven't actually practised as a doctor yet.

What do others think?

I agree with you! Also isn’t he just 25? And was planning on travelling if he didn’t get into BB. He hasn’t started his FY1 yet is my betting

YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/11/2023 00:31

Those saying Yinrun’s accent is fake - have you met a Chinese person?! That’s how they speak. She hasn’t lived in the UK for that long she’s unlikely to start speaking in a Yorkshire accent 🙄

Also in a racist world what on Earth would be the benefit of making yourself sound less white than you are?! Genuine question.

EachandEveryone · 07/11/2023 00:37

I said about three threads ago that he must be barely qualified. And I dont think you would be going on about cottaging and swinging if you were actually practicing out there with the public.

Funnily my friend has never watched it before and happened to be visiting me. I wasnt polite enough to turn it off. However, when Matty came on he asked me to pause it. He said that man, I treated him last year (I wont say where) is he a doctor?then he said Im only asking that because he was going around telling everyone that he’d just finished medical school. He was very vocal about it and I can imagine my friends eyeroll 😃

WallaceinAnderland · 07/11/2023 01:24

I have so much respect for Trish and she's my winner because I think she's earned it.

I like Yinrun but she hasn't faced the same challenges. I like Jordan, Henry and Matty but they have been mostly in a self involved bubble.

Trish has been through such a tough experience as an immigrant, she has stood up to the bullying in the house, put herself in the firing line, defended and supported others. She has my vote for the win. I think she's had the hardest ride in the house.

Jenkin is trying to 'make peace' with Trish simply because he's up for eviction. Before that he had not one nice thing to say about her. I'm glad she refused his half arsed attempt at reconciliation. Too little too late Jenkin.

Tom is still peddling the 'she's so aggressive I'm scared of her' line. I'd like him out next.

SammyScrounge · 07/11/2023 02:00

I'm.backing either Trish or Yinrun. Trish just because I find her likeable with no silliness about her. I think she would be a reliable and trustworthy friend.
Yinrun is also likeable and a very clever player. She makes the most of her endearing foreign speech and misunderstandings but occasionally slips up and shows a certain shrewdness.
Henry is a witty player and lives up to his 'posh' persona with gusto. He's too limited to be a winner though. I have gone off Jordan. From being amusing he has descended to that boring almost flirtatious act he favours. Mattie has turned out to be a damp squib.

lollipoprainbow · 07/11/2023 04:27

Jordan was hilarious initially now he's like a sulky teenager. Matty is so childish and needy!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/11/2023 08:17

Reserving my place on the sofa...

TellingBone · 07/11/2023 08:58

Doubt we'll see who's nominated tonight. In previous weeks they've shown them on the following day's show.

If it is face to face nominations [it's been suggested that the nominations during Hunger Games might 'count' as FtoF] then I can see Noky struggling the most.

Thesearmsofmine · 07/11/2023 09:27

I found myself a bit bored last night, the ice task was quite boring tv and I’m fed up of the chats between Jordan/Henry/Matty.
Feel bad for Trish, I feel like Noky is distancing herself now, probably in an attempt to not be nominated.

So apparently Shetland has a Tesco Superstore, Co-ops and other food shops… why was Olivia so confidently saying everyone there is a self-sufficient farmer 🤣

How long is his series compared to the older classic series of BB? Feels so short

Shetland is also not situated between the UK and Iceland. It's nowhere near Iceland. It's between the UK and Norway.

clappyjay · 07/11/2023 09:44

Just googled and Big Brother 2006 lasted 3 months! That is a long time to be completely cut-off from the outside world and living in one small space.

One thing I miss from the longer series was bringing in new housemates part-way through the series, also the fake evictions where housemates would return again.

They used to freak out when they saw new faces for the first time!

Which prompted the famous Who is she????
😃

Incogg · 07/11/2023 11:24

I think I'm a purist, I prefer no new housemates, no visits and no returns.

Bring back the blackboard and mangle, I say.

@YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal Sammys summary of their opinion on Yinrun above is probably more in line of what I think.

I have worked with Chinese people and agree they sound similar, but I think she is playing up that her English is not as good as it truly is. Trish said something to her last night and she made a comment, can’t remember what, but was very clued in and a good use of English. Compared to her explaining the dog sitting at the train station waiting for its owner in child-style English!

I am in agreement with you.

I liked the ice task. Proper old school BB. I now want BB to make someone a thief of the money.

TellingBone · 07/11/2023 11:32

Never liked having new housemates who, unless they had been locked in solitary with no media, have prior knowledge of who's popular etc. Similarly, evicted housemates in secret second houses get inside knowledge denied to others. It's a no from me.

While I'm on, there wasn't much to report from live feed last night. Garden gang continued to bitch about mezzanine gang and Olivia and Chanelle were talking about nominations until Jenkin swiftly shut them down.

HurdyGurdy19 · 07/11/2023 11:33

The thing that is annoying me most about the "deep and meaningful" chats between Jordan/Henry/Matty - aside from the fact that they are deathly boring and repetitive - is that we are being shown them constantly, at the expense of showing more interesting goings-on involving the other housemates.

This is what is leading to cries of "he/she does nothing", when in fact the cries ought to be "for the love of god, Big Brother, shows us what the other HMs are up to".

JaneJeffer · 07/11/2023 11:36

It's like watching 3 toddlers playing at having grown up chats.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/11/2023 11:45

I've never watched the live stream, only ever the highlights. Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought there was a lot more general chit-chat on the show before. It feels so shallow this time. Maybe it's the speed it'll all be over this time. Dunno.

TellingBone · 07/11/2023 11:46

I did initially think Matty might nominate Jordan for dropping him like a hot brick, but I don't know. Matty generally seems to nominate for 'the good of the house' reasons rather than personal reasons. Also if it is face to face nominations that might affect how he votes this week.

In fairness when she was doing that she was trying to get Jordan to cry which is why I suspect she did the childlike thing
