Big positive article about Ellie in the DM today. Apparently she was axed from Corrie in April and then found out her boyfriend was cheating on her so it was a terrible start to the year.

Strictly came talking to her about the same time and she decided to give it a go. So I imagine she did lot of fitness and dance prep over the summer.

She still lives at home with her parents. And Vito has form for Strictly romances as he won DWTS in Italy in 2021 with an Italian pop star then dated her for two years. I hope she is keeping the main focus on the dancing at least till after the final.

I last saw Ellie as that miserable 12 year old on Coronation Street, so I didn't have high hopes for her, but not only is she surprising me on the dancefloor, she is also very funny and engaging and has a tiny bit of star quality about her. Casting directors should be taking note.

I didn't warm to Ellie in Corrie...well her character really , but she is really growing on me in the last couple of weeks .

When she corrected Vito when he called Claudia , Tess (🤣🤣!) she sounded as if she was a long suffering wife !

They both bring a lot of joy !

I would like Layton to be brilliant at AT, I'm not sure he will though. He's all big flourishy gestures and heart on sleeve and flashy moves, I don't know if he can do the control and tension thing. If he can do it it could be amazing. Assuming he gets to the final he's going to do an insane showdance.

Layton's showdance would be spectacular. I thought his salsa a few weeks ago showed improved control and less of the 'jiggly wiggly ness'.

I hope Ellie's shagging Vito, lucky girl. I also didn't like her character on Corrie but Ellie herself seems lovely and she has a great partnership with Vito.

Layton and Nikita both had ridiculous outfits on ITT last night, and Nikita's tan was a bit too much. His arms, however, were magnificent.

Prediction for dance off this week - either Angela R vs Angela S or Angela R vs Annabel.

If they really want to get AR to Blackpool, whoever lands in the dance off against her is toast.

I don't want Annabel to go yet but the rehearsal footage didn't look great. Krishnan may have the curse of the samba but he looked all right in footage and I think his vote is pretty strong. Everyone at work who watches Strictly says they're loving watching Krishnan's journey and the contrast with his day job. So I think he's safe for a few more weeks. Unless he puts in a really bad performance.

Obviously I'm 100% behind Ellie and Vito for the win/glitterball.

To me, the last few weeks have looking like a showdance. I've said this before, but Layton's acrobatic tricks should be saved for couple's choice or a show dance to for that wow factor.

Right now, I think he needs to concentrate on learning the style of the dance without having trying to put his stamp on every one of them.

This is why I'm looking forward to his Argentine Tango, as he did say on ITT, that he wanted to show a serious side rather than camping it out.

Rehearsal footage is sometimes unreliable of course, but Angela R really didn't look good, and we know her vote is weak. She's got to be a top pick to go.

I thought Angela R did look quite good. Then again, I think I like her more than a lot of posters on here.
Krishnan looked light and nimble. I've quite high hopes for his samba. Having a copper-bottomed choooon will help, and I think he's very popular.
I think Layton and Nikita will nail the AT. They were both talking very clearly about keeping it simple, stripped-back etc. Nikita is no fool and he knows that the judges and viewers like a 'proper' AT.
I fear for Annabel. I think she'll give it a good go but will just be a bit too British. And I don't know if she has much of a fanbase.
Interesting that Alice Beer, who seemed to have an inside line to Angela S and what's going on in her life ,picked her to go this week.

I do actually genuinely want to see Angela R do a huge Face The Music And Dance AS at Blackpool. But I fear it's a week too far.

Either Annabel or Angela S (possibly both) is going to get some very very low marks and negative comments from the judges to set up a reason why they should go instead of Angela R. I suspect it will be whichever of them came lowest in the poll / vote two weeks ago to max the chance that they will be in the dance off. If that is Annabelle I think they will also be negative about Angela S just in case the Annabelle / recent widow bounce continues.

That Morecambe and Wise tribute at Blackpool is definitely going to happen. And I too would actually like to see it. I think Blackpool will be her swan song though as she will be eliminated that weekend.

I just can't get excited about Layton. Yes he's excellent, but it's just not in the spirit of strictly for him to be there and they've dragged the whole show down by him being included.

If that happens I think I might be out.

I rewatched the Mark Ramprakash and Karen H AT last night, who did the camera pan to in the audience - one Angela Rippon!

We might be in for a shock DO this week; I can't remember the last time, it's been a while. Will be interesting.
