Shetland season 8

Anyone else looking forward to the new season starting on Wednesday? It will seem a bit strange without Perez but looks to be a good cast and storyline so far as we know.

Quite apart from anything else, if AJ's character is staying, I want to see what Wardrobe give her as an everyday equivalent to Perez's continuity-friendly and weather-friendly jumpers and peacoat.

@duc748 don’t get me wrong, I love Shetland. I just don’t like her character or the acting.

And as someone who didn't watch early Shetland because Perez was such a boring half cooked potato who was a burden to everyone around him, I dont miss him at all.

And Tosh was / is a sort of younger female version of that.

But on the other hand most of the stories are about deranged families so its not really surprising everyone is a a bit dour.

But do miss Mark Bonnar. Just a shame he and Perez didn't properly pair up and set up a new upbeat lifestyle away from the relentless gloom and doom

Not particularly a fan of Ashley Jensen ( apart from Ugly Betty where she was fantastic) it just such a relief to have someone with a bit of spark. Although the writers have in a cliched way, given her a history of terrible family experiences.

When is it on?
I sort of live to hate it since Perez has gone and enjoy the odd eye roll at Tosh as it dues all seem a bit home soun sometimes.. but plan to watch it 🤣

After I read the update I sent a text.to DH ‘remind me new series of Shetland 5 November.’ He sent back that Mark Bonnar was in the pub. Spooky text sending for Halloween.

For a brief moment I thought you DH had some inside info and Mark Bonnar was in the new series!

Although cant quite remember, but maybe it is time that his character could be due for early release.

Think of all the old vendettas that would stir up.

He certainly got stitched up good and proper!

Though to be fair there have been a couple of other new series released this year that I had been looking forward to, that failed to live up to my anticipation. Shame because previously I had really enjoyed them…(Outlaws and Colin from Accounts).

Has anyone else had this.

I thought it was going to be some link to something Shetlandy like the cake fridge, but no just a boring google ad.

Surely the writers cam skip ahead to that, if they choose? I think it might be a good move, though surely there's a limit to how many times one man, however dopey, dreadful with money, semi-alcoholic and serially unfaithful, can get into trouble on one island? (I'm surprised anyone says hello to him on the road anymore!)

And maybe his character has lost its point a bit if he's no longer Perez's semi-skeezy co-father and sometime housemate, if neither Cassie nor Perez is in Lerwick any more?

Maybe Cassie could come back as an international drug dealer or something.
