Launch show tonight 9:00pm on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX. I understand that housemates actually entered the house last night and that part was recorded.

Broadcasts will be at the same time nightly, followed six nights per week by Late and Live, and then a live stream after that on ITVX.

Well I quite liked it so far.

I think the presenters were good so far.
I agree that Rylan would have been brilliant though but why knows maybe he didn't want to do it this time.

There's something slightly comforting about watching something from when you were younger.

I was 15 when the first one came out.

He said on loose women that he would have loved to have been asked to present the new series.

Think the cast looks promising - although agree it’s all the ‘usual suspect’ types.

Just glad it’s not all Love Island clones.

It's pretty obvious that people do take exception to trans people being included as if "normal" this person hasn't done or said anything to attract ire. You can't bleat on about "men can wear whatever they want, or present how they want" then immediately go on the attack when someone is gnc. Also the whole "muh diversity" shit, seriously have seen better takes on davidicke.com.

The trotted out line is, we don't mind trans people just getting on with their lives, it's the tra's that are the problem. This person has said not one thing about anything. They could be a twat, who knows. There is fuck tonnes of prejudice showing.

I don't think many people know trans people in real life, for many it's an online debate so for some the chatter will be from intrigue, I know I had much of it when my relative transitioned.

I also don't think most believe that every trans person is inherently bad but for many a lot of Internet representation is bad, that's unfortunate for trans people and it is something Hallie will have to overcome.

This is all immaterial as I just believe that when people are having a general talk about a group of people as a whole when it comes to the trans person that we have to pretend something that is obviously untrue. Mainly, that she passes when the chat on the Internet as a whole is questioning/ suggesting she is trans.

I don't think this has to be any more negative than talking/ critiquing other physical characteristics/ obvious of other contestants, such as the perms, the fake posh accent, the surprise that the self professed "hippy" is a geriatric doctor, or that the Scottish housemates always give awful impressions. Its day one and we only have very surface level observations to make and only a few minutes of coverage, of course the most obvious characteristics will be the most discussed.

It's also good to remember that Nadia is a much loved contestant who was also a transgender woman who won BB5.

Nadia was popular and luke won. Noone knew with luke until he said half way through.
Thing is though it shouldn't be a secret, what about the Muslim woman or the other girls, does he have a penis in the girls room etc.

True. But BB could also have manipulated most of that even if Jenkin is innocent. My gut is saying he's not a plant at this point.

You can say you are inclusive as much as you want but people seem to bristle at the slightest hint of a trans person. Get a fucking grip, I understand the arguments and trans women are not women, but God its not a good look.

@Californiabound I think you need to read your previous posts back as you've said a number of things yourself which activists would consider transphobic (even if we wouldn't)

If anyone really needs a clue just listen out for any women who are obsessed with men catcalling them (clue: it was in the VT)

You could go with that very simplistic view of 'what's the problem?', it's 'just' a 'reality' tv show and so what if there's a man trying to present as a woman on it.

Or you could see it as things like this mean trans ideology and gender is being presented as fact, that it's bring normalised that men can become women etc.... and that's quite problematic for a number of reasons...for women and children especially in terms of safety, privacy, dignity and fairness in women's safe spaces and sports. Let's not pretend there's not huge issues.

It's probably best not to turn a thread in the telly section of mumsnet into a discussion on the issues of trans ideology but if people keep trying to pass this off as not being an issue, others will respond as to why it is.

I love Big Brother bit definitely not paying to watch it
