Well, I'd eaten my crisps just as Adam and Luba were hitting the dancefloor (and it was a big bag), I was drunk by Ellie and Vito and I needed a wee by Amanda and Giovanni.

I'm all about Angela and Kai. The camp! The drama! That was the nearest we'll ever get to a mature Joan Crawford and a young Rock Hudson appearing on Strictly and it was everything I love.

Runners up : Annabel and Johannes (surprising and classy), Amanda and Giovanni (Danielle Steele mini-series drama).

A pleasant surprise : Jody and Jowita - I love that whole aesthetic, and he was much improved from the launch show. He just needs a bit of showmanship.

Not a surprise: if they gave Layton the hardest dance to downplay his ringerdom, it didn't work. However, he does have a vulnerability which offsets the ringery-ness. I would like to see him take on a routine which requires him to adopt a different persona.

Am I going mad or were we able to vote in Week One in previous years, with the vote carrying over until the next week?

The dances all seemed very short but it was a really enjoyable show. Lots of the celebs seem to have potential or at least a bit of charm.

He was Den Watts Jnr in Eastenders and shagged Sharon who was legally his sister but it wasn't full incest as she was adopted. He was later stabbed to death

Amanda and Giovanni- Everything was just beautiful. Love her dress too.

Nigel and Katya- I wasn't expecting him to be that good, and was worried for him getting a Paso in week 1. Beautiful lines and shaping with the arms. Did I say the arms?

Ellie and Vito - Energetic, quick,snappy and clean movements. I didn't expect that at all.

Layton and Nikita - I was fully expecting him to be annoying and diva-ish, but he does come across well. The performance itself was very good as would be expected. I have a feeling however, that if he did make a mistake or missed something, he would be able to hide it and style it out without us knowing, because he is a trained dancer. Still, I loved watching Nikita really let loose, and hope for his sake, make it to the final.

I also like Angela R, KGM, Eddie and Annabel.

I thought Zara was going to be good, but her performance was lifeless. Probably nerves. Ditto Nikita and Gorka. She barely moved in the first 10 seconds.

Wow, what a great (if over-long) first show! Only poor Les is a no-hoper, most of the others have potential, and I’m so relieved Krishnan wasn’t awful ‘cos I love him. Amanda, Bobby, Ellie and/or Nigel would have got my votes, or maybe Krish. I wasn’t a fan of his mother but Bobby has “winner” written all over him, what a gorgeous-looking kid. My “tears” test was passed tonight by Bobby, Amanda and… someone else, can’t remember who.

Cannot BELIEVE Annabel and Angela R got the same score for two such different cha chas. As I said to my OH, the judges added 2 points apiece for Angela’s age, absolutely blatant. As usual the judges started scoring sensibly for the first week, 3s and 4s and 5s, then went fucking mad with 7s and 8s, where is there to go after that, FFS?!?
