So no Aliaz - or did he leave last year? Very disappointed Cameron left. I would have preferred to see him rather than Carlos.

Aljaz left after the 2021 series so wasn’t in it last year either.

Not sure of dates but it does usually run right up until just before Christmas.

Nigel: will do great if Katya doesn't terrify him to death

It usually ends around my DDs birthday which is 15th December.

I wish they wouldn't have dancers on when guests are performing. I said this to my friend last night and she said yes people won't bother watching the performance they'll look at the dancing. I'm the opposite, I want to watch whoever the guest is without my view being blocked. It drives me nuts!

Regards the ringers. I still think there is a difference between pro or nearly pro when a late teenager but life changed direction. 10-20 years later kids etc...

Exactly. Layton is a professional. He didn't 'have some vocational training'. He has been paid to dance until recently and will presumably return to it when he finishes. Deleting 'Dancer' from his instagram bio before the strictly announcement was made and deleting his dancing posts (including the fact that he actually even danced with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures!!!!) does not make him 'an actor' which is what he is trying to sell us.

Layton is a dancer he was in a West end show and gave dance lessons …v odd they asked him when he’s already a trained dancer and that’s his profession

I don't much care about Layton's dance experience. I don't really want to see 12 dancers like Les after all. I do care that Layton is so annoying and overdoes the camp. It will be like watching Kinky Boots till December. There will probably be a lot of crying and talking about mental health. I may fast forward all his training videos.

Maybe they ask ones who can already dance ( or have some experience) purely to just mix it up ? If it were 12 people on who all had ' left feet ' that would be boring and tedious too?
Maybe Layton won't be as good at the slower dances ( waltz etc)

I agree that a mix of levels is a good thing. I always enjoy watching the ringers to be honest. But this is a new level entirely.

My prediction ( purely based on last night ) is Layton will be very entertaining, but annoying people by the fifth week or so and eventually get voted off. The whole show is rigged to keep the judge's favourites in it though , it's a shame the one who is bottom just doesn't get the push ( no dance off etc) as it was in the first series ( I think ?) so they are bound to keep him ( even if the public isn't on board !)

My evening was a bit messed up so I never got to watch the rugby. Well, I caught the last ten minutes or so. DD was working so we decided to record Strictly and watch it when she got home from work. But I totally forgot that it starts so early and missed the first hour. I also forgot that the first show is just an intro. to the celebs and matching them up with the professional dancers. So there's little or no dancing. I am a fan of the show, honest .

Anyway, I seem to know four of the celebs this year which is probably a record for me. So I know Angela Rippon, Angela Scanlon, Les Dennis and Annabel Croft. I don't watch the soaps so I never recognise the soap stars. Sure, we'll get to know them as the show goes on (well, except for those contestants who go out early). DD and I are doing a draw again this year - the loser will buy a take away. I won last year.

Looking forward to your company throughout the series. Strictly is a bright ray of sunshine in the dark winter nights. I don't always get to watch it live because DD spends every second weekend with her Dad, so I wait and watch it with her during the week. It's a much shorter show when you fast forward all the padding bits.

DD said that she's really into it now, having watched the first episode (well, half of it). She said about two thirds of the way through each series, it starts to drag a bit.

Also, I was mixing up Nigel Harman and Nigel Havers <shows age>.

Jeremy Vine stayed in for a while, so Les's fans may keep him clinging on for some time. He's touring round the country with his theatre show all week though, so he's going to be exhausted.

Shirley was in Times magazines yesterday, looking amazing, photoshopped or not. Her legs are to die for.

I'm looking forward to this series as the cast are an interesting mix. Absolutely love Bobby & I hope he does well. I thought he'd sworn during his talky bit but turns out he said "if I can" quite quickly 😂

Annabel seemed good in the dance & I have high hopes for her. I think Amanda will work her arse off & I'm looking forward to seeing how her partnership develops. I'd love to see Angela R do an Argentinian tango. Open to see how the rest of the cast get on.

Loved the tribute to Len. I didn't watch it in the early days and enjoyed seeing the clip of Len having a go at Craig!

Have just read that Neil’s gf is pregnant and their baby is due in April - don’t entirely agree with the few people who seem to think that’s soon enough to explain why he didn’t get a partner, but it is nice news

I liked Annabel,Amanda, Angela Rippon the most in the launch and liked Nigel andBobby for the gents. A bit peeved with Bobbys pro as I don't think she brings out the best in her partners. I'm quite looking forward to this years show..
