I loved John and wanted him to win(less bothered about Johannes)I never got the impression that he was remotely interested in Johannes, definitely the quiet ones

He did it was all very mysterious and dramatic I bet Johannes has it in his book 😃

I got it from Johannes for sure,but a lot of that I felt was dancing on live TV with a male partner euphoria.
John to me seemed at times uncomfortable..maybe I'm misremembering

I heard rumours of a film about Johannes’ life, although I don’t think it would exactly be Hollywood level

John did say he did Say he found it difficult to be flamboyant as he wanted to be taken seriously or didnt want to be seen as silly . Whereas Johannes embraces his flamboyant side because I can't imagine it's easy being so ott in South Africa. I've seen Johannes live he is the nicest man is articulate as well as silly and v v camp.

But takes his dance very seriously and is grateful for it all !

I think Layton should have been partnered with one of the women - an authoritative one like Katya, who wouldn't have let him get away with any nonsense.

I have a feeling that Nikita will struggle to contain LW.

Yes Nakitta is lovely and maybe a bit quiet although never underestimate these eastern European dancers they are fierce!

Layton requested a male partner, so that's fine. I think Nikita has been quite tough in the past. I'm sure he'll be well able to handle a diva. Bet the dance world is full of them

Yes I imagine the dance world is full of high energy competitive divas it's what drives them to win ! Layton might need to refocus some of that into listening and learning

Long term lurker here, i love following these Strictly threads. Just a head up that some of the Strictly Live tour tickets are on sale this morning/tomorrow morning, in case anyone is interested. 🙂

Ooh, I have never gone for the tour. The last two years haven;t been great, so... I wonder if this year will be worth forking out. Maybe I will wait till Saturday to see if my faves are good.

I’ve been on one tour.

What surprised me, as I wasn’t expecting it, was I was more interested in watching the professionals, than the celebrities.

On the tv show it’s the other way round.

I was saying to DH that I think we’ve got to a stage where the celebrities are less famous than the pros in some cases 😂 I’m generally more interested in watching them on the TV show as well - a really memorable group dance is an absolute highlight of the series. I still rewatch the dance to ‘Run Boy Run’, for example.

We were at a do where the strictly pros and celebrities stay after the show. My photos were with the professionals not the celebrities 😁

I was sceptical about the Johannes/John pairing but was won over for similar reasons to above , as the pairing became about the dance and not John and his sexuality. I don't think Leyton will be the same, he's too OTT in every way.
Agree with the show becoming more about the dancers because we've got to know them so well over the years, the opening show I was more interested in who would get Gio/ Gorka/ Karen and Katya than vice versa

I wonder how the professionals negotiate their fees now they are really famous and popular with the public? I bet they were paid abysmally in the original series so they'd have had to negotiate upwards a lot since then. I bet they threatened to leave to get a payrise. The BBC don't pay very good rates until you're at the Chris Evans level. I also assume they get paid more the longer they are in the competition? Does anyone know?

For me, the tour was a bit disappointing.
We saw it at the O2 which is mahoosive.
The dancers looked tiny so people ended up just watching the dancers on the big screens.

A friend was lucky enough to get tickets for the tv show final and said that the dance floor was so much smaller than it looks in tv.

It was the year that Jay won. They had to restart the recording as his stage fright was so intense.
