Watching Extra Slice, I think Alison has been edited down a bit - there is definitely some footage of her being highly exuberant on Extra Slice. But I think she really works in the tent, the show needed that warmth and enthusiasm. Really looking forward to the rest of the series.

I didn't realize until talking to DD about Bake Off last night that Dan lives locally. Will definitely be cheering him on even more and I think he deserved Star Baker this week.

Went to my local cafe yesterday and who works there but Amos! A few people told him they saw him on TV and he said it was a wonderful experience.

I'm so jealous! Love him.

Only just watched it - I was going to skip this year for the first time, but dd watched it & encouraged me back. So glad to have swapped Matt Lucas for AH - I've not seen her on anything before, but she seems warm & genuinely interested in the contestants.

The one thing I did think was that back in the day they'd have been penalised for using bought fondant icing - there was much more of an emphasis on everything made by the baker & everything being edible.

Previous contestants Jane and Howard have said that on the Bake Down Podcast, they had to make everything from scratch and weren't even allowed to use shop bought cutters. Though I think the time someone got totally ripped apart for fondant was someone who'd made a biscuit sculpture which was basically a stack of biscuits sandwiched with fondant which sounded pretty disgusting to eat.

It's just occurred to me that Tasha, unlike all the others can't talk and work simultaneously. If I was a BSL speaker I think I'd be pissed off that they don't always show her hands as she's talking.

These biscuits all look amazing but risky, can't wait to see how many of them pull off the designs.

I’m struggling to deal with the weird way Dana speaks, adding a sort of (uh) to the end of any consonant at the end of a sentence.
