That was awful, don’t think I’ve ever seen a round of such carnage!!

I didn’t really fancy any of those crème caramels either - it’s one of my favourite puddings but what’s wrong with just a normal caramel flavoured one? I don’t like it flavoured with anything. Same with crème brûlée. Just leave it alone!!

Unbelievable that they couldn't even manage a sponge pudding.

Those puds - hilarious. But not for the poor bakers! Was it the time limit or lack of familiarity with steamed puds? I'm not sure if I'd have guessed they'd need 40 mins but of course a steamed pud on the hob takes hours, so that make sense.

Mergingue Bombes look a bit of a nightmare too!

Josh is so much better than the rest at these showstoppers.
His is fabulous and he seems to have put about 20 different components in.
He's used the time exceptionally well in my opinion.

Agree. They didn't give them neatly enough time to steam the sponges.

Tasha took her sponges out of the Bain Marie didn't she - perhaps that's why hers were the only ones that actually stayed together more or less.

Gutted! I didn't warm to her straight away, found her a bit girly giggly at first, but she's really grown on me. Sad to see her go but I think it was fair.

I think you'd have to be a masochist to make one of those meringue bombe things in real life.

I think this series is the worst ever. I watch it every year but these are easily the least talented of all the shows. I am sure there must have been better bakers auditioned than these?

I loved seeing a technical where everyone completely cocked it up. After years of perfection, it was so refreshing.

Really? "The least talented of all the shows"? Do you mean all the cooking shows or all the bake off series?

I'm always a bit defensive of the bakers when people run them down, as unless you've been in the tent under that kind of pressure, I don't see how you can possibly comment. Baking to a time limit, with people interrupting you all the time, under the view of the cameras, trying to push yourself to your limits so you can impress the judges. I think that would take most of us way out of our comfort zone. How do you think you would fare? And have you applied?

Of course I haven’t applied! All I was saying is that in my opinion the standard is not so good this year.
