Dawn Porter - truth about birth

Did anyone else see it?

it was teh first documentary about child birth i have ever watched and thought was good.

DP was totally clueless and terrified of child birth. she looked into all the possibilities and managed to relieve her own fears through education.

I think it should be used in schools.

this girl is great! she is willing to try anything!
But AAAArrrrgggghhhh I missed it. will have to go hunting for the repeat!

Scramble · 03/03/2008 00:24

Is she the one who did the size 0 and the naked programmes?

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 00:27

yes. its her.

I just love the fact that she was so totally clueless about it all so if it were shown in schools the viewers learn with her.
admitedly there is the odd mildly naughty word but nothing too horrifying.

she doesn't hold back and you get to see 2 births.

It really was a fantastic programme

I loved the other two programmes and loved her naivety and cheeckyness, if it is like those I can see it appealing to teens.

NoBiggy · 03/03/2008 00:30

On again at 1.15.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 00:31

gosh, i think she's very annoying. hate ingenue/idiot presenters...

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 00:35

to be fair i wasn't overly thrilled with the naked and the becoming a lesbian programmes but i thought this had real educational merit.

channel??

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 01:46

i'm watching this now, i think she is an irritating immature cow, tbh.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 01:56

ofgs. what a moaner she is... i was practically a Scientologist by comparison. these young gels.

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 19:39

lol but its her immatuirty that makes me think this would be perfect for schools.

She is coming at it from a 14 year olds angle lol

OP posts:
MissyTheFlouncer · 03/03/2008 19:43

i thought it was great.
good for a first time mum to get a proper view on it all

Alambil · 03/03/2008 19:44

Yes I thought it was great - esp her absolutely genuine reaction to the online clip of an episiotomy!!

I totally think it would be good for schools to use - wonder if they would or not?

Watching that birth was amazing - the second one that is, that DP was actually at (such a shame she missed the first one)

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 19:47

i really, really thought she was a self-absorbed idiot. i take your point about 14 year olds enjoying it but she's about 25, fgs, how can anyone be so stupid?

MrsCarrot · 03/03/2008 19:48

I can't bear her either, such a whiner, and she pulled the most astonishing faces on Masterchef, like she thought the food would leap up and bite her.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 19:50

lol. she was like that about the fannies. if i'd have been there i'd have got mine to bite her just to send her packing.

MissyTheFlouncer · 03/03/2008 19:50

did anyone see last nights? the burlesque one -hilarious when she fell over with tits hanging out

LittleMissBliss · 03/03/2008 19:54

You can watch it on bbc i player. Dawn gets a baby
I really thought it was great as it didn't leave out all the not so nice bits that never get mentioned.

I mean like Dawn before i became pregnant i wasn't aware that you give birth to the placenta! I wasn't the only one when i discussed this with friends.

LittleMissBliss · 03/03/2008 19:57

Sounds stupid i know but i was never taught this at school. Sex education and biology were really crap, and i went to a good school.

Mercy · 03/03/2008 20:03

Haven't seen this particular programme but I think DP's 'documentaries' are generally a waste of time.

Saturn74 · 03/03/2008 20:06

Ooh, I found Dawn Porter sooooo irritating in this programme.
The other ones weren't too bad, but this one made me want to slap the screen.
She giggles like a three year old - very annoying in an adult.

Thought the women who gave birth in the programme were very cool, though.

expatinscotland · 03/03/2008 20:06

Same here, Mercy. It's always herself as centre stage. And just how long has she been 28?

That size 0 one was ridiculous. She's too tall to ever reach that size. You won't find a real model who is size 0 because they are too tall.

She's not clueless, she can't be. It's her job to research the show and then come across as such - and the editors, of course. Clever, but not clueless.

Mercy · 03/03/2008 20:09

It's the faux-naif thing that gets me - exactly Expat (congrats btw!)

(or should that be naive?)

expatinscotland · 03/03/2008 20:13

Yeah, the whole 'OMG, I can't believe it! I'm naked/giving birth/etc' cue coy looks and giggles like a 13-year-old.

In fact, I've met 13-year-olds who come across as more mature.

It's wearing.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2008 20:19

lol at OMG i can't believe it i'm naked. especially as she wasn't.
