Did anyone watch this?
I'm 6 minutes in and I'm actually shocked at some of things she says people have called her online.
'that she should be in a cage '
'that she deserves to die'
It's disgusting

BoomBoomShakeyRoom · 22/07/2023 00:20

What channel?

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 00:21

Next one says they want to pour acid down her throat and rape her!!!
Can't believe the vitriol here

I'm not surprised at any of it. I've got disabled children and some of the things said about/to them has been vile.

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 22/07/2023 00:24

People are truly vile. Rosie is awesome though.

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 00:28

Feel really bad for her

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 00:28

I don't think I would have made myself read those blocked messages

OP posts:
Clymene · 22/07/2023 00:28

I won't watch it. It's just an awful, awful title.

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 00:32

I guess she used it because that's one of the words these people have called her.
More than once from the looks of it

OP posts:
pottydimley · 22/07/2023 00:35

Does she have proof?

purpleme12 · 22/07/2023 00:35

Proof that people wrote these words?

Can’t stand her as a comedian, she is really not amusing in the slightest, but respect her for getting out there and doing it. People can be absolutely vile, sadly.

pottydimley · 22/07/2023 00:35

I don’t think anyone needs proof that people on the internet say the most heinous things. I’ve had people say nasty vile things to me for the most benign comments I’ve made. So I can well believe that Rosie would have anonymous losers saying all kinds of disgusting things to her. The internet/social media is savage.

Loads of other disabled artists have criticised her. She says she hopes using it and watching the documentary will make people realise how awful it is. But unless you watch the programme where she makes that point, then it's just giving legitimacy to ableist slurs.

Really? You think she is making it up?!? Of course she does! I work with a lot of people in the public eye and the abuse that they ALL receive, is disgusting. They can be male or female, straight or otherwise, disabled or not. white or any other colour, and I guarantee you they will receive threats that would make your stomach turn multiple times every single day. Rosie, as a lesbian woman with disabilities will be receiving way more than her fair share of really nasty abuse. Her courage to ignore it is incredible.

This. Can’t stand her act or when she pops up to diss people on other shows but this level of hate to her personally is gross.

AutumnCrow · 22/07/2023 00:54

I haven't watched it, OP, but I will aim to and also see what online chatter there is about it from my online disabled community. Was there any sign of any action from the police and CPS at all, or is it yet another case of 'nothing to see here'?

I can guess which sex was most busy typing their horrible posts to Rosie.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2023 00:56

As far as her humour goes , she is one I will switch off .
One "Mock The Week" episode her contribution to things you won't hear on... was "Hello Cunts"

WTF is funny about that ? (Answer-nought)

But the vitriol and abuse hurled at her is shocking and dispicable .

Nothing from police or CPS but I don't think she reported it.
She did speak to someone who'd gone to prison for trolling someone else, including sending death threats.

Indeed.
There was an outcry a few weeks ago from people who took part who claim they wouldn't have gone anywhere near it if they had been told the title of the show. Several made TikTok video's denouncing both Rosie and Channel 4.

I don't like her comedy either. I didn't mention that on here as the programme wasn't about her comedy and this was about the programme.

We did, as someone who has a husband who had an obvious disability nothing on the show surprised me at all, I also wasn’t surprised by the number of people online who thought they knew better than someone with a disability and thought they had a right to decide what a person with a disability is allowed to say.
