@AussieKoala in response to your comment that I don't seem to like Catherine, that is correct. I believe I've said so in those exact terms before. At the start of the season I liked her and then went to not minding her as she didn't seem to bring much by way of personality but I found her inoffensive. At this point her behaviour has been quite consistently horrid and I now do not like her

You're entitled to your feelings and you don't have to like her...however it's disingenuous to paint her as nasty and aggressive to justify how you feel.

littlehattie · 09/07/2023 23:39

@AussieKoala I'm not painting her out in anyway, I have quite clearly and comprehensively identified many instances of her behaviour, as you asked me to do. There are also many other people, both on this thread and on other places on the internet (and in real life) saying the same this.

As a PP has said, it's not racism. I actually cannot be bothered to write out a speech about black women and being painted as aggressive as I have first hand experience of this, as does my mom, sisters, nan, aunties, cousins. I have called out Catherine's behaviour based on what I have seen, not based on her skin colour so trying to push this narrative is quite simply baffling.

AussieKoala · 09/07/2023 23:39

Mapples · 09/07/2023 23:35

It's her behaviour, she didn't just come back and say I've met someone I connect better with, she has been horrible to him and about him to others. I know you're implying everyone who isn't a huge fan of her behaviour are nasty little racists but I am black and it is perfectly possible to dislike black women due to their behaviour without anything else going on. Plenty of people have also been critical of jess, I agree with you she comes across as genuinely pretty aggressive.

I never used the racist word.

I am questioning the accuracy of claims that she is aggressive or overly nasty.

I asked for examples because perhaps I've missed something, but nothing valid yet.

Being dismissive of Scott's feelings or not being sorry that she recoupled or saying things about him to Whit and Jess, is not the worst behaviour we've seen in this season alone, and is disproportionate to the amount of hate she is receiving.

Twonewcats · 09/07/2023 23:43

Jordan is always great on Aftersun. Tonight he said
Zachs dreams were shattered and he now as to double down with Mollie.
Indiyah said re Zach/Mollie, it's like when you go on a girls holiday and your boyfriend shows up 😅😅

Re Ty/Ella/Ouzy, Jordan said he reckons E and O have done things previously as she was happy to fall asleep on him and was at peace very quickly with him. He also said Ty is playing a game and asked Toby if he had given him the insider as to what to do in Casa

You gave examples that do not show aggression.
I asked you to contrast her behaviour to Jess for example or Ella even, as they've both had shouting matches. Would you say they have been aggressive?
Like I said, you (or the public) may not like someone which is fine, but you don't have to label them as something they're not.

A fee examples but lots more out there if you want to go looking. PPs have agreed with me on this thread that her delivery has been aggressive. If you don't want to accept it that's fine and we can move on

Why so annoyed about someone you don't know on a light entertainment show being called aggressive by someone you don't know on a light entertainment thread? 😳😖

FuppingEll · 09/07/2023 23:49

I don't think anyone has consistently gone in on someone else like Catherine has with Scott though. She did him dirty and she has consistently acted as though he is the bad guy, every episode since she's been snarking and eye rolling and acting like the fact she did him dirty is no big deal, she hasn't once shown any little of bit of humanity towards him since she came back.

Faye is on Aftersun FFS. She was the very definition of aggressive and got treated with kid gloves

No she didn’t. There was a huge public outcry and she got a warning and had to apologise.

If she was a man she'd have been pulled out of the show as she was actually abusive

We definitely do not agree but I cannot be bothered, nor do I need, to dig up tweets from strangers to inform or validate my thoughts and feelinge about someone.

Like I've said, you're entitled to not like her (I'm ambivalent about her tbh) , but I think it's unfair to call her aggressive (especially when placed beside Jess and Ella)

And stop bringing race into it - it doesn't have to be racism to be hateful.

Stupid question. It's a discussion thread

Twonewcats · 09/07/2023 23:54

I'd personally like to know why they've all been peed off at Scott. From what weve seen, it seems disproportionate from Catherine, but at movie night they all reacted the same way- after the boys also calling him out last week 🤔

It's light entertainment until a female starts being wrongly accused of being aggressive.

Can we reserve that word for when people are actually abusive and aggressive, not because you don't like them because they roll their eyes or make catty comments.

Which is my point. People have opinions but seemed irrationally irked at one word being used about one islander

Aggressive is being confrontational and forceful- a few have behaved like that.

But a few people have been aggressive - what Stigma is associated with someone being called aggressive when they're being aggressive 😖

Ok. As long as we agree then that these islanders are also aggressive:

Jess (very)
Ella
Leah
Ty (very)
Mitch
Sammy (very)
Scott (for swearing at Leah)

A lot of aggressive young people on television, I think I must write to Ofcom to complain.

littlehattie · 10/07/2023 00:08

@AussieKoala And stop bringing race into it - it doesn't have to be racism to be hateful.

I just wanted to be clear that you brought race into it, not me. I responded accordingly. I will leave it there.

I don’t think saying Catherine has acted in an aggressive way at times to Scott, precludes anyone from agreeing that others on the show have also acted aggressively.

However, Probably wrongly but I generally interpret behaviour of the person ‘doing the wrong’ as aggressive whereas those who have been wronged (in my eyes) as defensive rather than aggressive. So for me Scott and Jess have raised voices or sworn but in defence against poor behaviour from elsewhere in the villa.

Sammy, totally agree, he’s been an aggressive wee dick.
