They should cull the cast, get rid of the deadwood and hangers on whose characters have not developed at all and focus on getting better writers who realistically depict life in the East End. I know it’s a soap but some of the storylines are beyond parody. I live in East London and would say that characters like Karen are Denise are true to life. There are plenty of dodgy low level criminals like Phil. But the fact that characters live in terrace houses that cost £1 million minimum around here or would be £2500 to rent (proximity to Walford tube would put £xxx on rental) without having proper jobs is ridiculous!

I mean not everyone needs to be at the forefront but they shouldn't bring in new characters unless they intend to use them properly.

I agree, far more realistic to do the Denise type wedding when it isn't your first.
Maybe Sharon can be explained by the fact it would be Keanu's first marriage, so he and his family might want "the works". But you would imagine the others would want to avoid the faff and expense, and go for something a bit more low key.

People like Phil and Sharon have lived there ( on and off ) practically all their lives and have seen property prices escalate beyond belief , so that isn't that far fetched , for them anyway. Phil has lived there a long time.
At least Whitney and Chels are in HMO , so you can sort of see how they pay the mortgage. Maybe she is also entitled to UC ? No idea.
Karen is in social housing I think.

I don’t think Gray signed it over to her but Chelsea must be on the deeds at least as she was opening letters (presumably addressed to her) warning that mortgage payments were in arrears. I suspect Gray will conveniently die in prison and she’ll get the house. But as this is EE he will reappear from the dead in a few years, turn up at the Vic with a menacing “hello Chelsea” just as she’s about to get married doof doof doof doof
