Not paying attention again Tennis

I see Kato won her mixed match against her also disqualified women's doubles partner.

Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo got a lot of abuse for their part in getting the other pair disqualified and Vasek Pospisil said Kato's loss of prize money and points was theft!

Thank you! I am really not watching threads properly at all Grin

I was too shocked by the fact Fabrice (who I am merrily calling an oldie) is younger than I am Grin

I must admit I thought (and I think Jo earlier was of the same opinion ) the disqualification was harsh, and obviously the incident was an accident. It's not comparable with Djok- who actually did wallop a ball in temper - even if he didn't directly aim it anyone in particular.

Raahh · 07/06/2023 11:50

Haddad Maia ahead in the tie break- but only just and it's still hard to tell how this will go.

I think she's been playing the better of the two, from what I've seen.

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 11:55

I don't think running backwards is Beatriz's forte Grin

Thanks for the new thread Jane

I only read about the Kato incident but it did seem rather harsh and her opponents don't seem to have come out of it very well.

I have Discovery+ subscription (which I keep pausing) from the lovefest that was last year's Laver Cup. But according to the techno guru (DS!) it is only for phones and pcs. We have a relatively new smart tv (bought since subscription began) where you can access Discovery+ via Prime but we need to pay a further subscription to do this, apparently! And I refuse to do that for the sake of a few days! And I'm not from Yorkshire fizzy Grin

When did 'defence' become dee-fence?

It's annoying.

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 12:36

You might be able to find it in the apps on your telly and log in there kazza?

Watching tv is so complicated these days! I liked this tweet

Well done Beatriz

That is a good tweet Grin
Well done Beatriz- Ons did not play too well today, but Beatriz has done really well to get this far.

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 12:45

That were what Alize?? Grin

Raahh · 07/06/2023 12:46

I love it when Alize loses her train of thought Grin

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 12:53

She is the Bridget Jones of tennis Grin

Love Coco's bucket hat

Apparently, DS tried the apps route Jane but* *no joy. And if he can't work it out, no one can! As I said, I'm a clueless technophobe Confused

Raahh · 07/06/2023 14:14

I went off to watch Doctors - Coco has kept this match a bit closer than it seemed like it might be at the start.

Raahh · 07/06/2023 14:31

At least it's not a bagel, Coco.

The Windy is very windy today.

ChessieFL · 07/06/2023 14:32

Hi all, just marking my place on the new thread!

Raahh · 07/06/2023 14:35

Today, Marion is wearing an interesting blue sleeved creation.

Don't ever let Marion design tennis kits.

Iga sounds a bit shaky,

Raahh · 07/06/2023 14:37

Actually - that ship has sailed I think. Iirc, she designed some stuff for Fila - but not sure if players actually wore it Grin

Raahh · 07/06/2023 14:44

I have to go out, but I hope not to miss too much of the Sascha/Tomas match.

Raahh · 07/06/2023 15:00

I've been catching up on bits of tennis news whilst I wait in the car.

Apparently, Etcheverry's dog is called Roland Garros. Rola, for short.Grin

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 15:41

Aww that's cute.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 16:33

That's what Daddy Zverev was rooting in his pocket for Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/06/2023 16:45

I got back to see Sascha take the first set, and had to go out again. I thought at that point he would be on to take the next, even though it was a long first set. Was surprised to find Tomas had won the second- and already has a break.

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 16:51

I was saying to a completely disinterested DH last night that it would be lovely if Sasha won this year after his horrific injury last year. He's finding it tough though.

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/06/2023 17:00

Jane he's been playing well, but it's not been plain sailing.
I've been reading about the fact they won't let him administer insulin on court at change of ends, but has to go for a bathroom break (and a doctor has to do it) . All totally stupid, and, as he says, potentially dangerous if he's not allowed to do it at the right time.
