Yep, could not stop watching it once I started. I can't believe its over 😢

DumpedByText · 11/05/2023 00:36

Yes loved every bit of it so far. I'm on series 2, episode 5.

If you like it you'll also love Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias, both brilliant!

wanttokickoffbutcant · 11/05/2023 00:40

I binged the whole thing!

Yes I love it. I'm surprise there isn't more talk about it. I hardly know anyone who's watched it.

AuntieMarys · 11/05/2023 17:53

Halfway through season 2!

wanttokickoffbutcant · 12/05/2023 00:09

I am re-watching as I think I missed some of the nuances/connections the first time. Sadly going to a wedding this weekend with no Netflix so won't be able to finish and get started on the recommendations above until next week.......

I couldn’t get into it, thought it was dead boring to be honest

ToK1 · 12/05/2023 21:11

Just started

Wasn't sure at first but it's keeping me interested.

Only on series 1 ep 2

gardendream · 12/05/2023 21:18

I liked it. Reminded me of the film Beaches.

Has anyone read the book?

Crinkle77 · 13/05/2023 13:50

I couldn't get on with it. Didn't like the Katherine Heigl character. I only got to the 3rd episode in season 1. Perhaps I should persist.

RebeccaCloud9 · 13/05/2023 13:55

If you've only just started it @Crinkle77 you've got a lot more to learn about Tully and you will get to understand her character MUCH more, and will probably feel differently!

Crinkle77 · 13/05/2023 17:05

Ok, you've convinced me to give it another go.

Otherland · 15/05/2023 09:25

I'm on the last episode, have absolutely loved it!

How on earth so they make the eighties Tully and Kate and Johnny look sooooo young, when the actors are in their forties?

Jessiecaroline22 · 18/05/2023 08:46

I've just finished it and was looking for a thread on it. I cried my eyes out, it was one of the best things I've watched! Their friendship was beautiful and I wish I had a friend like that in my life.
Also loved all the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s nostalgia 😂

I was watching it whilst working on my laptop and I couldn't see anymore as I was crying so hard 😂

MumToTooManyBoys · 18/05/2023 11:18

I loved it.

MintyCedric · 19/05/2023 09:27

Just finished the last episode…probably one of the beat things I’ve seen in TV. The younger actors in it were absolutely stellar too.

I watched the first series with my best friend when we were in a ‘bubble’ during the last lockdown…we’re 47 now, met on the first day of primary school.

Life has moved on a bit for both of us since but I’m going to have to rope her in to a rewatch with me!

I think there’s some blurring/filter technology used - in some scenes their skin looks very obviously smooth and luminous in a filtered way. I didn’t notice it til the wedding scenes in the latest season though so I think it’s been fairly well executed!

I think they add a slight glow/sheen to certain scenes from the past too - sort of that aura glow you get around lighter colours.

gardendream · 19/05/2023 10:07

@Crinkle77 yeah I agree with @RebeccaCloud9 - Tully’s character is really interesting when you see how the trauma in her mother relationship and lack of father relationship has shaped how she copes in adult life.

Not too much of a spoiler I hope as I feel this is more about the characters than the plot… but it’s kinda beautiful later on when you see some sort of resolution/reconciliation that creeps into their relationship. It’s not the usual movie style big moment of repentance and forgiveness - I think it’s a bit more realistic than that, if probably a rare outcome in real life.

Crinkle77 · 19/05/2023 10:29

I am persisting with it, on episode 5 at the moment.

SmartHome · 19/05/2023 10:39

I really liked it but the time jumping and ridiculous aging of Tully's mother made it hard for me to take seriously. I would much hav epreferred to have watched it all in chronological order, with age appropriate actors.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 19/05/2023 16:42

I loved it. Might have to watch it all over again at some point!

OkImListening · 23/05/2023 23:52

Late to the party.. I started this a few months back and I couldn't get into it... cue my bestie sending me a late night text recently saying she's having a "breakdown" over FFL. Finished it tonight and I loved loved loved it. Give it another try tomorrow if you didn't like it in the first instance, you won't regret it.

OkImListening · 23/05/2023 23:53

Ps. Virgin River is good, but this is WAY BETTER!
