Hi
I love this show but...immediate spoiler folks - I got to Reece's character about to have his foot sawn off and had to stop watching.

did they actually do it? What happened generally?

I am very squeamish and also never saw the art gallery one for that reason.

This weeks was classic no9... loved it it was a little disturbing to say the least but didnt guess that twist at all. X

I agree! That one was great

SPOILER

Really gripped by the last episode. But wouldn't hardened concrete crush someone's chest and stop them breathing? As well as being incredibly painful?

PriamFarrl · 26/05/2023 22:00

I really liked this one, and didn’t see the twist coming.

In a way you'd hope that would've the case as it'd be a quicker death than what was planned.

My favourite was The Bones of St Nicholas

Lottapianos · 27/05/2023 08:15

I don't think this has been a vintage series, but I think last night's was my favourite of the lot

Bunionbabe · 28/05/2023 08:32

I thought it was clever that all the labels on stuff in the cabin were references to the stages of grief, starting with Denial and ending with Acceptance.

I didnt even realise that.. i will need to rewatch for all the little details i missed. Reece and steve are very clever with their writing. I always see something else i hadnt noticed before when i rewatch episodes x

Steve Pemberton's character said he had read On Death and Dying by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross (a Swiss psychiatrist). She outlined the five stages of grief as Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression then Acceptance.

Skipping straight to the end of the thread because I’m catching up on series 8 and am only three eps in, but just to say that I am pretty sure the published Inside No 9 repeat on Thursday (Mr King) is going to be worth a watch because I doubt it will be a straight re-run. I wonder if they are going to do another live stunt like they did with Dead Line.

Saucery · 31/05/2023 09:53

Mr King is my least favourite episode because of the child sexual abuse angle. Which is odd, because they've gone there before (Wise Owl etc) and it didn't bother me in the context of the story. I might watch later if they have changed it but it's not one I'll be revisiting otherwise.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 01/06/2023 22:56

Well, it was a double-bluff and it was just a repeat after all!

@Saucery I understand, and it’s paradoxical because Mr King contains no CSA beyond the false allegation, whereas Wise Owl does. I think it’s partly the presence of children in the episode, and partly the school setting. I didn’t realise on first watching that there is a Wise Owl poster in one of the classrooms!
