VPR is back. I haven’t watch the first one yet. Tumi and Sandy were on WWHL after the last ep and Sandy was annoyingly forgiving of Kyle given how awful she was to Fraser. Can’t stand her! I know in hindsight she might feel bad about but I can’t fathom how she called him cancer of the boat. I know… need to let it go. I’m sure he and Kerry will be good together though.

The first VPR was good and the season looks "interesting"!

So, two episodes in, what do we think?

For me, I like Captain Kerry, I think he’s coming across well, firm but fair and I like the way he’s checking the yacht prior to guests arriving, it’ll be interesting to see if that continues or whether it’s just a sort of trust thing at the moment as he hasn’t worked with any of them before.
I’m liking this new version of Fraser, he’s also being quite firm and setting out his stall in terms of colleagues. As for the stews, Cat is always being shown eating or sitting down and she does seem to have a bit of an attitude, I’m not sure her going to Fraser about the other stew (sorry I can’t remember her name).

As for Jarred (bosun) he seems a bit out of his depth, and I think he will be gone within the next few charters as will Cat.

As for the rest, I haven’t yet formed much of an opinion.

I’ve only just watched last weeks and I just have to say… Barbie does not know how to make a margarita…

I think Barbie's great and Fraser should appreciate her more - I think the captain was trying to show him that when they had their conversation about her.

Lot of fragility in the current series. Poor useless Cat reminds me of Caroline the chihuahua from S6 - Kate would have savaged her by now. Fraser's being way too soft with her, yes the poor girl has had a sad life but yachting clearly isn't for her, she just doesn't have the resilience (or the skills). Clearly a lot going on with the bosun too... I don't see him lasting much longer. Ben seems more than ready to step into his shoes!

I think there’s digs from Barbie that they haven’t caught on camera. The was she spoke to her mum about him was crazy but she is really good at her job and o think if he complimented her work she would be better behaved. It does seem extreme for him to want to fire her.

I think Ben is being a dick and using every opportunity to make the bosun guy look shit. He should just let him look shot on his own and focus on being a team player.

Cat is useless. And not like Lily who could learn to do it. It’s like she had know common sense or initiative.

Xandi seems good though. I find her quite interesting. She’s meant to be all “look at the crazy witch lady” but has actually been quietly knocking out jobs in the background.

Captain Kerry is a great captain.

We’re behind on current series but I follow Hayley on instagram (I think she’s the only reality TV person I have ever followed, I just fucking loved her 😂) and she’s going to Australia for 6 weeks so am really hoping it’s her and Fraser on a future Down Under.

Ben I really don't like - giving me creepy Gary vibes and Cat really needs to pull herself together & stop playing such a victim

Just watching Ep 6. Ugh, Cat is SUCH a pathetic downer! Why are Fraser and Captain Kerry pandering to her? Just can't resist a damsel in distress? She needs to leave so someone else fun can join the boat. Team Barbie all the way!

Jared also needs to leave. He's not in a good place and isn't enjoyable to watch.

Isn’t is mad that Xand’s marriage ended with another cross family affair. Was it her mum and his dad? I wasn’t fully listening but she is just such a quite gem between the other two who have polar opposite personalities. Cat on the night out was extremely annoying. She’s not doing anything to try to change things. She had time with just the girls where they were sharing stuff and connecting and she seems to just wallow whenever she can.

Barbie is a good stew but I can see that she’s hard work. I wish Fraser would see that she is stroppy but if you feed her compliments she will soar.

I agree with all this, particularly about Cat, she’s really not making any efforts to try to fit in and just seems to be isolating herself for sympathy and perhaps to get away with working a bit less.
As for Fraser and Barbie, I agree, it’s coming across that he gives compliments to Xand and Cat but not Barbie, or at least I’ve not noticed any. I’m sure she would respond positively to a ‘thanks for doing a great job’ etc, although during her chat with Kyle, it does come across that she’s fairly self aware and does respect Fraser.
As for Jared, I’ll be surprised if he’s still there in a charter or two’s time, it’s getting uncomfortable to watch him being in a difficult place.

I’m not sure Cat is calculated enough to be doing it to get out of work. I think she has had a hard life but has settled into the victim mentality and wallowing in it so that’s her standard mental state for all things. She’s giving Eeyore rather than lazy but no self awareness or understanding that she’s doing it to herself. It’s quiet child like really.

I wonder if Cat has had any therapy for her issues? When she opened up to Fraser, I really felt for her, but I agree she’s wallowing and not helping herself. I think it’s unusual to see someone in her role quite so un-self aware. Crew on all BD are usually very outgoing and self confident, sometimes too self confident, unless they’re very good at hiding it.
I do wonder why Cat chose to do this type of work as she seems quite unsuited to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if she quits at some point.

Captain Kerry is a class act, I did find myself wondering if other Captains would have done things differently as far as todays episode panned out.

Did you notice that Kerry only requested new deck crew. Not a new bosun. Normally he would have had Ben in as acting bosun till he proved himself.

What was going on with Cat and her friend. Her friend was as dramatic as her with her response to trouble. Maybe they don't know any other coping skills. It seemed very OTT.

I'm absolutely loving the new SH on Fridays best series in ages. Still can't decide if the Karl / Lindsey relationship was real or just manufactured for the cameras/show and subsequent cash. However I really sad to learn that Karl smokes pot. As an addict I'm sure he would be better staying totally clean.

He is brilliant. He really leads by example and pulls his weight as a crew member when needed.

I thought the Cat leaving issue was handled really well and her well being was placed first without an intrusive need to explain.

No idea if Cat is OTT or something serious really is going on but it was handled impeccably with no judgement.

I think Ben did a good job and I’m assuming deckhands are easier to find but also, Ben was not an unknown entity to BD to easy to see if he could do the job. I wonder if his ego will blow up though.

SH I think Carl and Lindsey were real. I agree that smoking pot does not make you sober. it must be a Cali/NY thing as James Kennedy is the same. Surely anything that is altering your mind/mood in such a way is something to avoid. But Lindsey’s accusations are unforgivable in my book. Hearing her explain it away on SH and WWHL doesn’t convince me as we’ve seen her be snippy and hurtful many a time before. Currently on team Carl as I would have broken up with her for that and just not being able to be around someone who was drinking like that if I was sober.

Agree with you. I wouldn't want to be around that level of drinking if I was trying to abstain. I don't think she did herself any favours. And accusing Carl of being on something was way out of order. I do wonder if she will reflect on the way she acted when she watches the footage.

Couldn't care less why Cat left, just glad we won't have to see any more of her weeping and whining. I hate criers. Won't miss Jared either... bring on the newbies!

Anyone think the new deckhand, Dylan is it? is a bit full on? He’s like an over excited child but perhaps he’ll calm down.
The mid season trailer was also played, you know the ‘later this season’ one, looks good and a bit dramatic.
Does anyone know when this current season episodes finish?

His hair reminds me of a Sim. He’s very bouncy!
