Reece shearmith and rob pemberton are geniuses,

I never see the twist coming .

The actors are amazing and renowned

The plots are beyond the imagination!

It's the modern day tales of the unexpected isn't it ?

Which series is it on? I found the first two series predictable. I'm not trying to be clever, I love them and thought League of Gentlemen was genius. But I can't agree with the twists being unexpected nor are the stories that original.

Hoping it got better.

I've been watching TotU on my dad's TV funnily enough and find that infinitely better.

Roarsomemore · 04/04/2023 11:11

I agree they are really clever and different to other things around but I found some of them disturbing. The snuff film one was horrible in particular. I gave up watching because it was like Russian roulette whether it was going to be one I found too dark. Used to love League of Gentleman. Must be getting more sensitive in my old age

blubberball · 04/04/2023 15:03

The episodes I've seen have been very theatrical. They could be performed as a play

PandaTears · 04/04/2023 15:06

No spoilers from me but if anyone is short of time they should watch The 12 Days of Christine, I think it’s truly amazing.

12 days of Christine, best 30 minutes of TV ever.

100% agree with this - it's the best thing I've ever seen on TV - genius from start to (heartbreaking) finish

AnyaMarx · 04/04/2023 23:11

I love Sheridan smith in that episode too

The actors in these are A class

Yes they have certainly managed to recruit some big stars. It must be highly regarded within the industry. Just watched Christine. I kind of guessed towards the end. Great episode!

Leftbutcameback · 05/04/2023 08:02

If you listen to the podcast they say they often have an actor in mind for a role, but it seems like they have a very tight budget and timescale for filming so it’s a bit of a gamble whether that actor is available for a role. I’ve always assumed that it’s a real privilege for an actor to be in No 9 with the amazing writing so sure they make time to do it!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/04/2023 22:15

I love Inside No9 , most of them need a second watch to get all the bits you miss !

I watched some of Series 7 (A Random Act of Kindness) and 6 (Hurry Up and Wait , How Do You Plead and Lip service ) today .

Love 12 Days of Christine -I didn;t get the twist at first then when I checked on Den of Geek , I was Oh , of course . At first viewing I thought they wee going to go all full on horror story at the Christmas table but I wasn;t prepared for that . Xmas Sad

These are my rewatch (many many times )

Empty Orchestra
Wise Owl
Sardines
Loves Great Adventure
Cold Comfort
Bernie Cliftons Dressing Room
Thinking Out Loud
The Devil of Christmas
12 Days of Christine

What did you find predictable in those seasons?

even the end of Cold Comfort?

mrsnjw · 08/04/2023 22:42

I don't think I've really guessed any of the endings so far. I've just finished and the winner is... I love the way they go from full on horror, to really dark and then quite light. You never know what they are going to serve up.

Tinysoxx · 08/04/2023 23:02

I watched Joan Collins in TOTU the other day - it was fantastic and you could see his no.9 evolved through that.

I also remember being terrified by TOTU when someone gets murdered by being locked in a sauna. Freaked me out about saunas ever since.

pinkchampagne1 · 12/04/2023 14:33

Just started watching these. So far I have watched the Christine one which was good. I really didn’t see that ending coming. Was good but also sad.
Also watched The Harrowing which was kind of weird, spooky and funny all mixed together.
Have a couple more downloaded to watch on my plane journey home from our holiday.

JudyGemstone · 12/04/2023 21:23

I love it.

my faves are riddle of the sphinx, the harrowing and the one on the sleeper train with the job interview.

I really don’t enjoy Sheridan Smith as an actor so didn’t rate 12 days much.

I liked the harrowing one too - surprised no one else has mentioned that one. It was totally bonkers but creepy.

notacooldad · 13/04/2023 23:42

Going back to TOTU, I watched Flypaper the other week. That was harrowing!

I thought it was amazing , mainly due to the cast and the script . There really wasn'r a line out of place .
It took me ages to fathom that each new scene had moved on a year .
And the Time To Say Goodbye song is one of my favourites (that I want at my own funeral )

The Flypaper gives me the chills every time I watch it! 😨 Most of the TOTU episodes creeped you out as a child but are a bit silly now, but that one is really chilling.

TitsInAbsentia · 20/04/2023 21:55

Back on tv next Thurs (27 April)!

Ahh brilliant Grin
I had a quick search (no spoilers) but it looks like Anita Dobson and Phil Daniels are on the first episode of this series .

Back on tv next Thurs (27 April)!

Good news!

Someone upthread mentioned The Harrowing, which reminded me I never did watch that one, having bailed out after 10 minutes as it was too scary! So I tried again and this time lasted only 15min. I'm such a wuss. Can someone tell me if the last half really is as horrible as it appears to be working up to?

JudyGemstone · 21/04/2023 09:27

ah its not that bad! Kind of campy and schlocky, a homage to occult movies of the 70s. It’s fun scary, not nasty scary.

I agree. That one really stands out. I think that wasn't written by Roald Dahl, but he said he wished he had written it!

Bbq1 · 21/04/2023 12:41

God yes, Flypaper is a hard watch.
Anyone seen the one where the landlady is drugging, killing and stuffing young male lodgers? I think most of TOTU have great twists, but few are silly or unfathomable!

pinkchampagne1 · 21/04/2023 15:16

I don’t think I could Watch Flypaper again. It is by far the creepiest episode. I believe it was written by Elizabeth Taylor.

The landlady episode was also pretty creepy. 😐
