6 part drama starts Friday nights

The drama introduces plain speaking, no nonsense DI Colette Cunningham, whose fearless approach to policing has earned her the respect of her Merseyside Police Serious Crime Squad colleagues.

Career driven and dedicated, Colette is unflappable and an absolute force of nature. Until she takes a call from Garda Sergeant Luke Byrne in Dublin.
The body of a young woman has been found and Colette is listed as the next of kin.

The name of the victim means nothing to Colette so she continues to efficiently go about her day job.

Persisting with his enquiry, the young officer calls again and begins to describe the young woman rendering Colette speechless.
She takes the next ferry to Dublin to identify the body of her missing daughter, Kate.

She’s experienced this exact situation a million times, but never from this side.
Kate left home 20 years ago aged 16, and clearly didn’t want to be found.Always a police woman and with 30 years of experience kicking in, Colette has some searching
questions.
But is she prepared for what she finds?

Acclaimed actress Paula Malcomson (The Hunger Games trilogy, Ray Donovan, Deadwood) will take the lead role in Redemption, a six part drama jointly commissioned by ITV and Virgin Media Television, Ireland in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

is the actress Irish?

Watching this and enjoying it but can't get over the main character collette is meant to be old enough to have a 37 year old daughter and grandchildren in their late teens!!!!
She looks no older than 50 tops! which would mean she was 13 when she had her daughter, it's slightly doing my head in unless later on they reveal she was a young teenage mum.
Is it just me??
I'm 51 btw and have children the age of Collettes grandchildren !
She may be a good actress but seems to young for this part ???

I was so confused by her age and her dead daughter's age! Further confused when the daughter's boyfriend appeared and he looked the same-ish age as her.

Rummikub · 24/03/2023 21:57

Did she say she was 53 in first episode. So she was 16 when she had her daughter.

daffodilandtulip · 24/03/2023 22:45

I thought he was going to be behind her when she got that bag from under the sofa, ready to attack her!

Isn't the son lovely?

But why does the boss seem to hate her so much?

Xmasbaby11 · 25/03/2023 23:57

I’m really enjoying it. What went on though at home for her dd to never contact her again?

there are definitely some plot holes as pp point out about being allowed to enter the house and tell the kids. Surely the kids would have been looking for their mum? Surely the police would need to search the house, eith organised crime involved? The family seemed so isolated and v low turnout for the funeral.

I like the characters and it’s an original story so will be sticking with it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2023 12:30

Yes I want to know what she hasn't been in contact for so many years

Assume daughter must have been preg when she left and maybe kicked out

Tho As she was a teen age mum herself you thought she would have been more supportive

I'm not sure why but I really don't like the main character. Her face. Her make up. Her attitude. Her accent. It's put me off watching. I like her boss though.

Davros · 26/03/2023 22:03

If she's 53 and daughter was 27 wouldn't she have been 26 when she had Stacey?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2023 22:11

Davros · 26/03/2023 22:03

If she's 53 and daughter was 27 wouldn't she have been 26 when she had Stacey?

The dead daughter is 36/37

Or else she had her daughter at 12 and son at 14

OP posts:
Davros · 26/03/2023 22:12

Oh, I'm ten years out on the daughter's age then

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/03/2023 13:28

Tho saying that. She's been missing /gone 16yrs

And she was 16/18 when left so must be 32/34

Blondes brain explodes

Runnerduck34 · 27/03/2023 21:23

Said in episode one dead daughter was 37, that's what made my head explode as actress playing Collette looks far too young to have a 37 year old daughter .

Runnerduck34 · 27/03/2023 21:26

PP I think there's holes in the story! Nothing wrong with your brain. I'm just trying to suspend disbelief , ignore the things that don't add up and enjoy it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/03/2023 13:40

E3 tonight

A visit from OC confirms Collette suspicions that's there is more to Stacey's death than suicide

Recorded it and watched tonight. Not particularly gripping tonight. Wish Colette would stop prowling round dangerous spooky places on her own!

BIWI · 02/04/2023 14:52

Sorry @Blondeshavemorefun - haven't had time to watch this. Not just holiday, but my brother died a few days ago (very unexpectedly) so we're all over the place and have so much other telly to catch up on, so I'm dropping out of this thread.
