Is there a Eurovision thread yet?

If there is and my lackluster search has missed it- my apologies. Not sure if anyone else is ready for one yet and the build up?

Luckily booked hotel in Liverpool before it was announced and they seem to be honouring the booking at the price we booked. No luck with tickets ( did not try for final- want to watch that in PJs with a drink) - wanted the family show.

Any one else?

I’m obsessed with Eurovision. It’s the highlight of my year. Sadly I couldn’t afford tickets or accommodation, so it’s watching it on TV again with lovely friends again. On another note, what about Croatia’s entry? It’s bonkers!

That sounds amazing! I wonder if there’s something like that local to me? (Woking)

Hello. Not sure what to do. Didn't get tickets. Friend coming over from the Netherlands. I think we are planning to go to Liverpool, perhaps during the week for some of the fringe stuff but I've got to be honest, I'm not fancying going on the sat as the fan area is only 25,000 capacity and I think they are going to have major issues with that. I don't think it will be enough and it will result in chaos.

So thinking Eurovision party at home. Currently trying to plan how to work it (and who sleeps where / where we watch it etc etc.

Hi all. Hoped it would be in Leeds (obvs not) but as it seemed to be a front runner we booked a hotel in Liverpool for 3 of us on booking.com and they seem to be honouring it! Teen DD has really got the Eurovision bug over the last 2 years so it is me and her and my sister. I remember hosting a Eurovision party heavily pregnant with her when Lordi won.

I love liverpool anyway and the atmosphere will be amazing. It is a real shame Ticketmaster were in charge and the prices of the tickets. As we have not hosted for years not sure if this is usual and also the HUGE profiteering by airbnb accommodation etc.

I think our entry is a grower. I do not love it but I did not love Sam Ryder at first and he did ok and he was an amazing entry. With the right staging it could work and it will also depend on where we come in the draw and what everyone else enters. Apparently it is boy band heavy so that may work in our favour.

The main thing is we are taking it seriously and not just sending a crap act who does no promotion and cannot perform. That bloody entry before Sam with a shite song and 2 limp foam trumpets was a total piss take. As DD said, he was out of breathe before he even started singing.....

I really like Mae Muller, had been listening to her for a while and like her songs Jenny and The Hoodie Song but was totally surprised when I heard her Eurovision song! She's really changed her style

I think it is great that the UK is finally taking Eurovision seriously. The whole 'all Europe hates us' so we got no votes was embarrassing and self absorbed. Eurovision is bonkers in lots of ways, but is such a joyful force for good with some great tunes! We totally have playlists from each year that get played on long car journeys. 'Rise Like a Pheonix' is not only a massive tune but also was so powerful in that it stood up to homophobic attitudes in a certain country that year!

I actually really like the UK entry from Mae Muller this year. Her singing voice and style gave me a mixture of Ann-Marie/Dua Lipa/Madeley vibes which is an excellent thing imho as I love all 3 of those singers 🥰 Girl power all the way I say!

Sooo happy to see Loreen is back this year! Still listen to Euphoria when it pops up on my playlist and it doesn’t get old.

I really hope this year is a change in attitude from the UK public and Eurovision can stop being seen as a big joke and waste of money and all the rest of it. I like our entry this year, I was worried they’d get it really wrong and go back to the cheesy guff they used to enter but I can see this one doing well.

I've saw Loreen had been announced for Sweden. I think a couple of countries are sending previous entries. I think its a bit odd though and they won't necessarily do well again. But I quite liked Loreen's song when I heard it the other day.

We have tickets for family show semi 1. Although, heavily pregnant and DH bought them without consulting me. Cheap seats and I don't even know how he managed it. So hopefully will get to go still, just a bit terrified of a Eurovision baby!

@Wrongsideofpennines I think you need to name baby after the winner! Your husband sounds a gem- I WOULD LOVE to be surprised by tickets, even in the cheap seats. Just imagine if baby was born during the show- s/he would be instantly welcomed into the Eurovision community and have soooo many Eurovision fanatic aunties and uncles!!! Just take your hospital bag- there are sure to be midwives/nurses/doctors in the crowd and the way the NHS is at the moment you and baby may actually get a better service. Just imagine if you got Eurovision tickets for life 😉. Not that I am encouraging you to give birth live during the family show.......

I love Eurovision and and I’m so looking forward to it! Loving Finland’s after a couple of listens (did not get it on the first listen) and Norway has a strong song. With Loreen entering as well I reckon it will be a battle between the Nordic countries

I got tickets! 😃

OK so not to one of the televised shows. DD and I are going to the afternoon preview show for the second semifinal.

That actually suits us perfectly because we always cook a special Eurovision dinner before the Live Final so this way we can have the fun and excitement of going to a show and still do our usual fun evening for the final.

So looking forward to it.

You’re so
lucky! I’m very envious.
Do you live in or near Liverpool? If not, did you manage to get accommodation at a reasonable price?

They said on the news or somewhere earlier that they plan to show it live at cinemas around the country which could be fun

We live in the Manchester area so we can get the train and don't need accommodation thankfully.

We do feel lucky. DD said at least 3 of her colleagues were in the virtual queue trying to get tickets and didn't manage it so she was delighted when I whatsapp her to say I had been successful

I like that idea. If I wasn’t spending it with my favourite gusbands (gay husbands) I’d seriously consider it!

My favourites are Spain and France, and I like the wacky number from Austria, and also Portugal. Sweden is a strong contender.

I sort of like Australia this year. Germany out metals them though.

Croatia reminds me of that Finnish entry from so long ago, Nuku Pommiin.

I really like the UK song this year.
Ireland heading for last place, I fear. What a boring song.
