Anyone watched this? I’ve not read the book but just finished the series. What a captivating watch. Excellent casting. Clare Danes is just fabulous.

It's amazing. I'm on the final episode.

I thought in the middle, that he'd killed her and she was the cause of the ceiling stain. I'm glad I was wrong.

It's so beautifully acted.

SomersetBrie · 25/02/2023 10:33

Really enjoyed the book and the series is on my next to watch list.
I am glad people are liking it.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 25/02/2023 18:10

Halfway through and really enjoying it

Penelope1703 · 27/02/2023 05:55

I loved it.
I'd read the book and loved it but had largely forgotten the plot.
Ended up staying up until midnight because once I got to episode 6 I couldn't stop watching.

domesticslattern · 01/03/2023 14:24

It's such a good watch. Brilliant casting, acting, dialogue, soundtrack. Gets better and better as it goes on.
I wept buckets at one particular scene (don't want to give spoilers).

JustDanceAddict · 01/03/2023 15:35

We’re watching it at the moment, really enjoying it!

redrobin75 · 01/03/2023 20:02

I'm watching it at the moment too!

vestanesta · 01/03/2023 20:35

I am on episode 8 now. Without spoilers I found some of the last episode devastating and a bit close to home. I cried (I suspect at the same part as a pp).

Can I just pause to say how amazing is Clare Danes' wardrobe and hair.

Netaporter · 01/03/2023 23:01

@domesticslattern i think I probably cried at the same point. Episode 7? Very close to home for me.

I've been wavering about watching this. I read the book and don't remember especially liking the characters and I find it so hard to see Jesse Eisenberg as anyone other than Mark Zuckerberg. Sounds like all of you have enjoyed it though

domesticslattern · 01/03/2023 23:38

Yes, episode 7.
Knocked my socks off. Really glad I was watching alone.

KylieKangaroo · 02/03/2023 22:09

Just watching this now, trying to put aside my hatred of the main actor as it seems really good.

The daughter though, jeez are all 11 year old girls that bad? 😓

vestanesta · 03/03/2023 05:54

@KylieKangaroo carry on n with it. As the owner of a young teen girl I actually felt a lot of sympathy for her and she gets better.

I keep thinking about episode 7. It genuinely got to me.

KylieKangaroo · 03/03/2023 09:11

Yes I'm a few episodes in now and I can understand why she is acting that way now! It's really good so far and he isn't annoying me so much now 😅

workshy46 · 03/03/2023 14:08

I thought it was a murder mystery - is it not? I'm heading into episode 4- does he get more gripping ?

Cleebope2 · 03/03/2023 16:49

Finished it last night. I did love it but Toby was punching way above with Rachel, wasn’t he? I get that she was insecure though and he did have a good job. How do you interpret the ending? Do things go back to normal post divorce? No way are they getting back together.

jay55 · 03/03/2023 20:27

I thought they got back together. Though why she'd want to do that I've no idea.

Blogdog · 03/03/2023 21:07

Oh this was so good, but as a forty-something very close to the bone. That traumatic birth scene. The comment about making choices without realising that they will limit your future choices. Episode 7 was one of the best hours of TV I’ve ever seen.

A difficult watch at times but a very thought-provoking series. What you think you’re going to watch and where you end up are so different.

Yes, episode 7.
Knocked my socks off. Really glad I was watching alone.

I’ve just watched eps 7 & 8 and I am done. Thankfully also alone tonight. So much really resonated with me as a slow build across the other episodes, but ep 7 finished me with how brilliant it was. I hadn’t read the book and I’m glad, because I’m not sure ep 7 would have had as much impact just from reading 😭Really satisfied with the ending too- is that true to the book?

SeeSawSeen · 07/03/2023 15:18

Oh wow, I loved this! I had no idea it would develop as it did.. it was just a whole rollercoaster of emotion, and so relatable for this vaguely disillusioned 40-something!
Eps 7 and 8 floored me. So sad it's over now. Any recommendations for programmes in a similar vein?

IsThePopeCatholic · 07/03/2023 15:46

Absolutely brilliant. The acting was superb. Very raw emotionally.

spacechimp79 · 07/03/2023 18:56

I really loved this show too. Never read or even heard of the books. I was sobbing at points as it really resonated with me. Thought Clare Danes was amazing.

Psychonabike · 08/03/2023 21:48

Finished this today. I was absolutely blown away by it.

The hints that we might be getting a one sided story were so well done -the gonzo journalism references and so on- but didn't take away from the first side and kept me watching to hear the alternative.

And then the alternative -just devastating, real, clear and sadly all too relatable.

I realise that taking sides wasn't the message. We're all the sum of many parts and all that. But her experience just hit me in the guts and Toby just seemed like a petty entitled whiner by comparison. But then I'm a doctor and have met many like him, who seem to think that being a doctor is all they need to do to prove they are good.

Clare Danes was amazing. I felt uptight every time she was on screen. Completely contagious.

JustDanceAddict · 11/03/2023 14:01

hust finished watching it too. Very perceptive- am a decade older than the characters and the last ep really resonated - ‘ and now’ ‘and now’ - time just feels it’s slipping by.

EachandEveryone · 01/04/2023 00:01

I literally havent moved all afternoon. It was so good. Very Woody Allen though which is fine as I love his stuff. I dont think its everyones cup of tea though.
