Is anyone watching this? I couldn't see another thread. It's shocking how the family seemed to be able to stop the earlier murders being investigated due to being powerful/wealthy and having the right connections

To launder money that Alex had embezzled I suspect. He tried to claim he spent it all on drugs and that no money is left, but I'm sure that's a lie.

I still find it unbelievable that he killed the son he tried so hard to protect after the Mallory crash.

I also found it a but strange that Mallory's boyfriend was still speaking so nicely about Paul, even after everything that happened and his total disregard for Mallory's life. Her and her boyfriend appeared to be so close and childhood sweethearts. It almost sounded like her friends Miley and Connor and of course Morgan were angrier at Paul than Mallory's boyfriend Anthony.

I missed why Buster and John Marvin were trying to spend money in Las Vegas. Does anyone know?

Sorry I messed up the quote.

This was meant to be a response to the above question:

I don't find it that hard to believe. He didn't want negative attention tarring his family name or the costs involved. Also there's been a couple of child abuse cases where the child has eventually died where its been revealed that the parent was aggressive to teachers. One of them even said "I'm a teacher's worst nightmare." It's the attitude that "I can abuse my child but if someone else dares to cross my family i'll make their life hell."

Wow at the way this story unfolds! Initially I was going to switch off this documentary because of the boat and upsetting content. But I read some of this thread and carried on. Blimey - what a family, and now following the court case.

NowAAT · 28/02/2023 11:56

Watched it over the weekend and I'm still baffled.

The whole family was dysfunctional from the start and the coddling of the boys and allowing them to do whatever they want without repercussions but instead their parents bend over backwards to cover it up is one of many reasons why they spiraled like they did.

Don't even get me started on the Alex! The kids also didn't have great role models. A drug addict dad and mum who didn't really spend time with them.

Sad sad case.

My heart goes out to the families of Mallory and Gloria.

Inkanta · 28/02/2023 12:00

Yes a family with no morality. All about appearances or status. Very callous and wicked.

The podcast The Murdaugh Murders is excellent. It started long before Alex Murdaugh was arrested. Mandy Matney is the host

On apple podcast ?

Caught some of the trial on Court Tv on sky yesterday. Defence witness explaining how Alex would have been covered in blood if he’d shot Paul. It was interesting to listen to his explanations.
Alex kept his head down all through the testimony and seemed to be in tears for a lot of it.

Obviously could have all been for show.
