Pretty much as the title... he wants zombies, monsters, etc. Stuff that we watched as kids in the 80s doesn't seem to cut it, as it's old 🙄

Please hit me with your best recommendations for a boy who is currently lamenting loudly at the cruelty of me not letting him watch Squid Game the problem is, he'd LOVE it

As a young'un one of the most terrifying things I ever saw was a BBC adaptation of "Lost Hearts" by M.R. James. There is a whole back catalogue on iPlayer I believe.

My Nan gave me a copy of "The Monkeys Paw (and other tales)" when I was 10. I know teachers at school were a bit "Oh no", but my DM put them straight 😀

The x files is a good call

I believe Lockwood and co starts on Netflix on the 27th January, judging by the books should be tight up his street.

Just watched trailer - looks fantastic for my DC.

Locke & Key also very good.

I think I’d just straight up say no. If he doesn’t want to watch age appropriate stuff then he can go without the movies altogether. I think trying to fob off a 10 year old intent on Squid Games with movies like Monster House is just going to be a total lost cause, so I’d just say ‘no, that programme isn’t appropriate and you can’t watch it,’ and move on. The more you try to compromise with other options the more he’ll see it as a negotiation.

I loved horror films when I was a tween/teen. I can't watch any of it now - too scary and horrible!

My nearly-13yo enjoyed The Hunger Games (films and books). There is no way ever that I would let him watch Squid Game though.

Another vote for supernatural, like a more modern x files and despite the monsters very wholesome
