Masked Singer 2023 Thread 2: It's a game of Cat and Mouse and our guesses are all Rubbish!

Thread Two for jovial discussions and guesses!

As per previous thread, and guesses or I told you sos (I am preparing myself for Rubbish demasking!!) are welcome.

Please avoid sharing any heavy hints garnered from social media. A few identities have been leaked that way , especially on the US version.

Once the show has finished airing on ITV, discussion of demasked 'celebrity' is allowed and this does not constitute a spoiler.

We all (ahem, nearly) guessed Lulu. Let's hope we have heard of the rest!!

Rubbish is Jay Blades - he was one of the upcyclers on the programme where things are rescued from the tip. He's an upholsterer, hence the frame references, as in the frame of pieces of furniture. The voice is right for him.

Unfortunately ITVX isn't working for me this morning so that's all I've seen of last night. Will catch a repeat instead.

MrWhippersnapper · 22/01/2023 09:53

It’s not !

Fawn.. the Sandy necklace.. “Pure Shores” was from The Beach soundtrack.

Ahhh yes got it. But the maths? The awkward clue? Topsy turvey land?

How are people so confidently wrong?

Sunbird24 · 22/01/2023 10:27

We were all quite confidently wrong about Steve Davis 😂

Twonewcats · 22/01/2023 10:40

Jacket potato is really horrible to look at. It looks like the start of a pimple popping video.

Topsy turvey land - she did I’m A Celebrity, so upside down? I can’t make the other two clues work though 🙈

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 11:58

Jacket potato is Jon Bon Jovi.

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 11:59

He's the very famous person Joel hinted at

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 12:11

MaskedFan · 22/01/2023 09:31

There's alot online saying Ritchie sambora for jacket potato

I think it's the more famous lead singer......

MaskedFan · 22/01/2023 12:27

You could be right Pootle

JaneJeffer · 22/01/2023 12:48

Jacket potato is Jon Bon Jovi.

Whaaaat?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 22/01/2023 13:49

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 11:58

Jacket potato is Jon Bon Jovi.

Jeez. Yes!! I've seen bloody bon Jovi a dozen times over the years (in stadiums) and kept thinking I knew the voice. When jacket sings Hallelujah last night, you can hear the rocky guitar in the background that is so famously Bon Jovi - in the key of E I think. Just as he sings "Your faith was strong" you hear that famous husky rasp.

Well fuck me sideways and wrap me in foil

RainbowZebraWarrior · 22/01/2023 14:10

Clue wise for the Jacket Potato / Jon Bon Jovi link - off the top of my head -

He is from New Jersey - Jersey Royal Potatoes? Tenuous, but clues relating to costumes usually are.
He married his childhood sweetheart Dorothea at Gracelands chapel (Elvis links)
Think there was a clue regarding a 'smash hit' and "I'll make you go whoa!" so I'd say that's a link to Livin on a Prayer.

Twonewcats · 22/01/2023 14:55

My mind is blown re JBJ! It hadn't occured to me that anyone like him would do this.

TinselAngel · 22/01/2023 15:38

Why would JBJ do it? He must be richer than God and about equally as famous.

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 15:47

Who knows but I think it sounds like him.

paintyhands · 22/01/2023 15:59

I read this every Saturday night but have never posted - so if JP is JBJ that could explain the Romeo and Juliet reference (Story of Love) I can’t imagine it though - surely he wouldn’t do this!

I linked the Romeo and Juliet clue to the song Always which opens with 'This Romeo is bleeding, but you can't see his blood'

As to why he would do it. No, of course he doesn't need the money, but a lot of big stars are fans and he's a lovely bloke with a sense of humour.

I've listened again. I kind of think he sounds more like Richie S x

MaskedFan · 22/01/2023 16:12

The thing is the clues for the songs match both Ritchie and Jon

TinselAngel · 22/01/2023 16:15

I suppose I never thought Morten Harket would do it either.

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 17:11

Exactly. He didn't need the money either !

Pootle40 · 22/01/2023 17:13

If it's Richie Sambora then someone else must be the very famous person. My husband doesn't watch it but when I replayed jacket potato on YouTube he said that's JBJ. I said some people are saying Richie Sambora and he said 'who?' Lol. Which is funny since in same band!

VioletaDelValle · 22/01/2023 17:15

JP sounds a lot more like Ritchie Sambora than JBJ.
