I cant get I to Yellowstone, but God the prequels are good. Binged 1883 in one weekend ( needed tissues) and can't wait for each episode of 1923.

Helen Mirren is brilliant in 1923, deserves an Emmy.

I just watched episode 4 of 1923, love it! According to the IMDB app we now have to wait until Feb. I will try 1883 in the meantime. I love the Montana scenery so much plus the horses.

sailingsunshine · 09/01/2023 22:03

Sorry @Maggiesgirl , just saw your other thread post. I will move 1883 to top of my list!

Maggiesgirl · 09/01/2023 22:09

Nooooooo. Any idea why we have to wait?

We have just finished 1883. Absolutely loved it. From the opening scene you are just drawn into this epic saga. Fantastic show. Now starting 1923, hope it's just as good.

RedRiverShore3 · 15/01/2023 07:37

I have these on my to watch list but wasn't sure as can't get into Yellowstone at all, I shall give them a go

ripandhishorse · 15/01/2023 15:01

I watched all episodes of Yellowstone when unwell. 47 episodes in 7 days. I persuaded DH to watch 1883 with me and we’ve both really enjoyed it. Did that over 2 weekends. Going to start 1923 next weekend.

sailingsunshine · 15/01/2023 15:33

@ripandhishorse , big respect for that amount of the Duttons! My favourite was series 2. I think you will love 1923.

JadeSeahorse · 15/01/2023 16:53

Not started 1923 yet but plan to do so very soon.

We love Yellowstone but my God. Anyone who hasn't watched 1883, please do.
We found the first episode a bit drawn out but then it just gets better and better. I could still sob into my tissue 6 months later. 😥

MadamLeota · 15/01/2023 16:56

Anyone wanting to watch 1883 needs to be aware it has not been renewed for season 2 by Netflix and you may not want to invest in it.

ripandhishorse · 15/01/2023 17:07

The actress who played Elsa is absolutely gorgeous.

I think it stood better as a 1 series show - probably better - a really good story arc

Cantonet · 21/01/2023 11:54

I finished 1883 yesterday.
The ending was so sad.
I really enjoyed this series but the first episode was slow & it took a while to get going but then got pretty exciting. Elsa was such a fantastic character in this.

Instead of 1883 season 2 they decided to fast forward to 1923. I still think it's worth watching as it's an origin story of Yellowstone

coolmum123 · 21/01/2023 16:54

Sorry quoted the wrong post. I am responding to @MadamLeota post. ☺️

Cooroo · 22/01/2023 00:16

1883 left me a quivering wreck! But I thought it was excellent and portrayed what a tough time people had.
I'm enjoying 1923 but finding it hard to care about the characters in Yellowstone despite watching 6 eps or so.
Prequels are very good though.

hothands · 22/01/2023 23:20

Tried watching Yellowstone and couldn't get into it but we gave 1883 a go and loved it! Started on 1923 two days ago and we're really pissed off that there's only four episodes so far 😩 Some of the accents in 1923 are a bit dodgy but I'll give it a pass.

Spencer Dutton is mighty fine btw. Never thought I'd find a man with a moustache so hot.

Blindsandcurtains · 23/01/2023 06:18

We started 1923 yesterday and did 2 episodes. It’s not gripping us like 1883 did. We had to look up the family tree to work out who people are.

SapatSea · 23/01/2023 22:57

I've tried to get into Yellowstone twice but can't. I also gave up on 1883 after 3 episodes. I thought Faith Hill as the mother was dreadful, huge white teeth and all the plastic surgery, fillers and plumped up lips, just terrible acting and her husband not far behind. In one scene where he was driving a cart you could see the big modern rubber soles on his boots. All Elsa's spotless white sprigged muslin dresses were jarring too. It was an expensive production that wanted to show the grim reality of the time but I just didn't buy into their world when the main actors were pumped full of fillers and spray tanned. It all felt so fake. Perhaps great C&W singers can't also be great actors.

I've watched all 4 episodes of 1923, better for me than the others but it is strangely paced. Nothing happens and then everything suddenly. Far too much of posh English girl lolling around in a satin chemise and long pan shots of African savannah and expensive street scenes in the Montana town. All the 1923 Dutton wives look like clones - all blonde bobs. I like Helen Mirren even if her Irish accent is dreadful ( why make her Irish, is it in Yellowstone lore that she was?)

MyNameisMathilda · 24/01/2023 20:09

I liked 1883 - may have to try 1923. Perhaps you may also like the English? Similar but more quirky.

Dudewheresmywife · 24/01/2023 20:15

Love them all.... you can't better Yellowstone of course, it's simply superb, but loved1883 and enjoying 1923....

You didn't like it then 😂

Worth watching for Spencer alone - be sad when they leave Africa behind

So episode 5 of 1923 is out but despite having a paramount plus subscription, they want me to pay to watch the episode Hmm
