I agree about Shadrach. Another character who has totally been rewritten - albeit from beyond the grave. As far as I can remember he was a kind of lovable rogue of a drunk, not the "vicious violent drunk" that Chas is now portraying him as.
Another annoying feature is the character (Caleb) who has been in the show all of 5 minutes but now takes centre stage and has to poke their nose into everything that's going on,

Yeah he was a bit of a lech when he was pissed but he was absolutely hilarious. The only time I remember him taking a swing at Cain he was so drunk he fell over

Also, noone knew Gordon was such a vile person until Aaron was an adult. Gordon and Chas were even going to get together again at some point until Aaron spoke out. But in the flashbacks they talk about Gordon negatively. Yet wasn't Gordon quite well off and Chas had a nice wealthy life with him until she left Aaron with him. I also thought Chas was slightly older when she had Aaron. She looked 14/15 in the flashbacks 🤷🏻‍♀️

I give up trying to make sense of anything on Emmerdale anymore. Gordon was a right charmer and everybody thought he was great. Diane was going to sell him her share of the pub and couldn't understand why Robert hated him. He obviously had loads of money given the legacy he left his children.
