Anyone in for the Christmas special? Just starting!

I was looking forward to this but so far it's all a bit gloomy....

I don't think they could tackle this period any other way. But yes its pretty sad stuff so far.

I'm finding it a bit of a letdown. A Christmas special should be a bit of a feel good watch.. while I agree the time period is difficult to do they could have made the main storyline about something less serious.

One of my favourite programmes too.

It is a bit emotional, isn’t it? Don’t suppose they could make it lighthearted though, given the times.

I started watching 25 minutes in, who's the young girl? An evacuee?

I enjoyed it but have cried through most of the second half!

I was really hoping for a baby announcement to cheer everyone up a bit.

Where is Tristan going?

Tristan was called up to join The Royal Veterinary Corps.

I bawled my eyes out. But so well acted! Love it.

I can't believed she kissed fucking Gerald!

Not with that moustache anyway.

Oh I loved that!

I loved every minute and had a quiet sob at the end

Aw that was lovely.

I was trying valiantly yo hold back tears as I always watch with Dd and she'd laugh at me but had a cry when I went to bed. Hormones and time of year and life are making me tearful as it is but that was close to traumatic for me. Poor Siegfried.

I want Mrs Hall to get with Siegfried not Gerald. Would Mrs Pomfrey not be the perfect person to take in a few evacuees?

I know a few people have said on previous threads about Mrs hall and Siegfried but I don't get that vibe from them

I love everything about ACGSS. Just watched it on catch up.
I liked Tristan standing up for himself, and the breaking down of Siegfried's formality.Mrs Hall could do a lot better!

I really can't see Siegfried and Mrs Hall as a couple either. Possibly because I've read all the books and she is such an elderly lady in them!

James and Helen took a back seat, didn't they?
I thought at the end of the last series James had joined up? No call up for him?
The little evacuee was sweet and well played.
