I find the dead rellie stuff manipulative and unnecessary. My mum is dead but if I was in a dancing competition I would feel shabby and manipulative suddenly brilliant ngong her in to it in a " my dead mum would have been so proud" sort of way. My alive father would also be proud but he gets fewer misery points so mum gets the mention. Nasty. Older relatives die sadly. We all die.
