Welcome to the shiny new thread.

One less day to wait for the next installment of Strictly!

OP posts:

Was out earlier so have just caught up. I thought Molly was better first time round. Kym was very gracious and she's improved so much. Surely next week will be the battle of the dance off queens.

BogRollBOGOF · 03/12/2022 19:43

Just caught up with the whole thing (bloody football)

I've liked Molly's past two dances, and it does feel like she's shifted a gear a little. Weeks of neat, sweet, twee dances did her no favours. It's a shame for her that she's had to go through the dance off yet again. I just feel like there should be something a bit more dynamic and dramatic in the tank that she hasn't pulled out and she feels like a less developed dancer compared to her strong starting point.

Will failed to ignite me again even though the dancing was technically good. I'm bored of being told that he's emotional. I feel like he's mansplaining it to me 😂

Hamza... interesting music... interesting costumes... but they pulled it off. I love the way he moves to the music and he has an infectious joy.

Helen, wow! She would not have pulled that off in the early weeks. That worked beautifully for the theme.

Fleur, nicely done. Her dancing is maturing well and she seems to be dealing well with the dance off threats.

Kym, it was neat and I can't tell if it felt slightly flat because of the choreography set to such a lively tune when I want to see leaping through the air, or whether she's not on top form this week. The dance off was a fair cop and she went with great dignity.

It was a more entertaining night than last week, just a shame it was on the wrong night and I lost the chance to vote. It would have been a tough call though.

Same here. Yes, yes and yes to all that ⬆️

I started off liking Molly and Carlos, lost interest in the middle, found Molly a bit irritating, but now really liking her again. Voted for her, Helen and Fleur.

Been dreading a Fleur/Molly DO… hoping Will’s cc next week will be his undoing. I’d be happy with any combination of the others in the final, just not Will, even though I like Nancy.

I hope the new pro with short hair who danced with Molly gets a partner next year. She looks like she could be a lot of fun, makes me think of Betty Boop, only taller and thinner.

ArcaneWireless · 03/12/2022 21:54

So, The Happy Mondays, maybe The Stone Roses and The Charlatans? Are we going to see Nancy shaking her maracas in a parka and a Cool As Fuck t-shirt? This is so my era.

And mine. Could you imagine “I wanna be adored”? Sigh.

Once upon my prime, I had a very lovely night on a beach with a raging storm, that playing from the car, a bottle of pandemonium, an Iskender and a chap who thought I was worth talking to.

That album was immense. All of it.

ArcaneWireless · 03/12/2022 21:56

the pan loafy was the one and only fityedaeinyemadradge 🙂

The dance-off was no real surprise. I think we all knew it would be Kym and either Molly or Fleur. I'm glad it was Molly for no other reason than between her and Fleur, Fleur danced better on the night. I'll be surprised if it's not Fleur and Molly next week.

I'm glad that Anton threw her his vote. Molly is the better dancer but I enjoyed Kym's dance more and I thought she really upped it in the dance-off. It was never in doubt that Molly would go through though.

I know people wonder why her and Fleur are in the dance-off so often and I think we need to remember that most of us vote online and have three votes and they give those to their favourites or the people they enjoy the most. They're not as many people's favourites and their dances are not as often the favourite of the night. That's all it is. We could argue that they are the best dancers so they should get more votes but for better or worse that's not how the show works. I think that Fleur is one of the best dancers. I think Molly is a very good dancer but is lacking in something plus she's partnered with Carlos and his stupid face which doesn't help.

I've never voted for either of them because there have always been other people I've preferred. It must suck to be in the dance-off so often but until they're up against each other or an equally good/better dancer it's always been obvious that they'll go through.

Clawdy · 03/12/2022 22:39

How many times does Will have to hug Nancy? Yes, we know you're mates!

MoirasSaggyBundles · 04/12/2022 00:10

He also does the hair sniffing thing <boak>

TheMadGardener · 04/12/2022 06:27

Would be interesting to see the viewing and voting figures this week. Surely a massive drop from the usual Saturday night numbers. Loads of us who usually vote and watch live weren't able to this week.

AutumnCrow · 04/12/2022 06:35

I missed the show on Friday completely. Just slipped my mind that it had been moved.

TerraNostra · 04/12/2022 08:14

SoupDragon · 02/12/2022 20:52

Weird. I thought it was bitty and not at all flowing as a whole.

That is what Fosse intended.

SoupDragon · 04/12/2022 08:59

TerraNostra · 04/12/2022 08:14

That is what Fosse intended.

I doubt he intended there to be no sharpness between transitions and for it to be just a mish mash.

SoupDragon · 04/12/2022 09:01

I enjoyed Cabaret. I thought this was a bit shit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 04/12/2022 09:15

So throwing it out to everyone, who would you say is the better dancer, generally, Fleur or Molly?

I can’t make my mind up. I suppose it depends on the dances, week by week. Last night I thought Molly.

GrouchyKiwi · 04/12/2022 09:16

I think Molly is better technically, but Fleur connects better with the dances (and Vito) so looks better overall.

Gooseysgirl · 04/12/2022 09:17

Yes I agree @TheMadGardener! I totally forgot and ended up not voting. Next weeks show is on Sunday... then results show on Monday which I think is ridiculous!!!! Surely for just one week they can dispense with the lie and screen the results show on the the same night ffs.

Gooseysgirl · 04/12/2022 09:23

Fleur has the edge for me. I do like Molly but there is zero chemistry between her and Carlos, and I think that's part of the problem. I would love to have seen her partnered with Nikita - I think they would have been a fantastic partnership! (Not taking anything away from his partnership with Ellie S which I also loved).

I'm probably a lone voice on this, but I did not enjoy Hamza's performance at all on Sat, nor the previous week... hoping he draws me back in again next week!!

C4tastrophe · 04/12/2022 09:27

Kim gone, Hamza next.

Willmafrockfit · 04/12/2022 09:33

but it is a popularity contest,
hence Hamza wont go
hence molly being in the dance off week after week

ohyouknowwhatshername · 04/12/2022 09:40

I've always thought Fleur is too full of herself, from her x factor days. I just can't take to her at all. I cannot stand Will. The looking up to the rafters thing was so obviously fake - why do people fall for that rubbish? I don't understand the love for Helen either- God, I really am grumpy, aren't I? Can't stand the woman. I like Molly, which obviously puts me in the minority. And I'd love Hamza to win. Not only can he dance, but he seems so lovely too.

Lentilweaver · 04/12/2022 09:45

Not a lone voice. He is the person whose personality I like the most and dances I enjoy the least! Molly is the opposite; I would run a mile to avoid her in the pub but I enjoy many of her dances.

Ellmau · 04/12/2022 09:55

The dance-off is boring, predictable and, in the case of someone like Molly, cruel and feelbad. It would be kinder to straightforwardly eliminate someone and produce more filler, such as a pro couple demo dance.

But then we'd get really good people voted out too early.

Ellmau · 04/12/2022 09:58

I didn't really like Helen's dance. It was well performed, but felt a bit too un-family-friendly for Strictly, even compared to some of the sexier routines we've had in the past. Obviously it works for Cabaret, that's kind of the point there, but it was all a bit ... sordid?

SolInvictus · 04/12/2022 10:02

Molly, definitely for me. I find Fleur's dancing sometimes reflects how she comes across in the VTs. Loud, stompy, unrefined.

That sounds harsher than I intend- there have been weeks when she's danced beautifully- her AT is one of my highlights of the year, but that's one of the "powerful" dances that suit someone with her personality. I enjoyed her VW and her Samba.

(Seeing as everyone is always going on about Hamza having lost weight, I'd like to throw in that Fleur seems to be the only one who has put it on. All pure strength and muscle obvs, and I'd give up my firstborn to have a body like hers, I just wonder if she is a real iron-pumper gym goer and that's why sometimes her dancing lacks finesse- because she seems to be all about "power")
