Welcome to the shiny new thread.

One less day to wait for the next installment of Strictly!

And that includes you Vicky Giggles! He lives in you would have meant that Hamza could have worn awesome rafiki costume and make up and Jowita could have worn a stunning lion catsuit. They live in you makes me more concerned both are lions (I remember what they did to Mark Benton. And AJ had teddy ears ffs). Wink

xsquared · 29/11/2022 21:33

@SequinsandStilettos They might give Hamza and Jowita onesies like they did to Gio and Richie's Lion King samba.

There seems to be a lot of upset about Molly and Carlos doing Hot Honey Rag because it will somehow taint Gio and Georgia's version. I didn't watch Strictly that year but having seen the dance on Youtube, it will certainly be a tough act to follow.

This is how I felt about James and Amy doing the QS to Don't get me wrong in week 2 and I was right given where they were on the leaderboard. As Molly will be styled as Roxie, I think she will look very sophisticated and hopefully this will give her the confidence to provide a polished performance.

It's a great song and look but some you don't touch/some routines are sacrosanct. I'd put Georgia in there, especially as Molly is not even doing a different style, she's performing the Charleston. It is only frustrating as there are so many alternatives mentioned upthread that haven't been used yet.
For me, Hot honey rag is tied to Georgia same as Pulp Fiction is tied to Jay and Istanbul and Angels are tied to Caroline. It doesn't stop the recycling - Seann got an I'm still standing jive iirc.
Simon Webbe did a lovely QS to I got rhythm, but it was more generic, so Fleur won't be disadvantaged by comparison.

TheMadGardener · 29/11/2022 22:52

I am fully expecting Helen to do some tap dancing in her couples' choice.

How the hell do you turn Fame into a cha cha????

Hope to God they don't put Hamza and Jowita in furry lion onesies.

Looking forward to seeing lovely Vito in white tie and tails, hopefully.

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 06:58

Lauren and AJ tried - it did not work

SoupDragon · 30/11/2022 07:54

I don't remember Georgia's charleston at all. I watched the video yesterday and it didn't do much for me. Giovanni looked detached through it I thought and I didn't think Georgia's "big smile" was any different to Molly's (or any other Charleston dancer for that matter).

personal taste I guess.

i loved Sophie EB's aloofness in her charleston with Brendan though.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2022 07:55

I wonder if there is some issue with getting rights/permission to perform some songs so they end up using the ones they already have permission for or don't need permission for?

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 08:18

Maybe. I know there were issues on occasion on DWTS getting copyright on songs.

TitsInAbsentia · 30/11/2022 11:14

They've started to unveil the Christmas special slebs....
Rickie Haywood-Williams (apparently of BBC tv and radio)
Rosie Ramsey - podcaster and wife of Chris...I can already feel her gurning from here....

TitsInAbsentia · 30/11/2022 11:17

The music choices for this week leave me flatter than having to watch it on a Friday!

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 11:27

Rosie is paired with Neil so maybe both can do a gurney Charleston. He got a good one out of Judy Murray. Less said about that Vanilla ice cc with Mel, the better.

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 11:38

They live in you is stunning and makes me cry but doesn't feel samba-y unless they mean the triumphant second part of the reprise He lives in you. That bit works and is joyous. I am here for it. I just hope it isn't too similar to his salsa/cc and he manages to do the samba rolls well (although not sure why Mafusa would do that with Simba unless Hamza does Simba and Jowita does Nala with Mafusa in cgi backdrop). I may have been overthinking this! Wink

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 11:39

Mufasa

SequinsandStilettos · 30/11/2022 11:40

The Cher Show are the musical guests this week.

MoirasSaggyBundles · 30/11/2022 13:40

Place marking. Thanks to pp for posting the line up. In the words of Han Solo: I have a bad feeling about this.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse 😂

Also I believe we can call her Ringer Rosie...

How so?

SolInvictus · 30/11/2022 16:09

Not heard of any of the Christmas people so far. Advantages of being in a furrin land I guess.
I'm on the sofa with wicked sinusitis so have been down a rather lovely Mark Ramprakash, Austin Healey and Danny Mac wormhole. And very nice it was too.
To note (again) Oti never once had to hold back with DM. They truly showcased each other.
And Erin and Karen were magnificent. And so was the lighting and lack of gizmo-widgets.

SolInvictus · 30/11/2022 16:12

The pre-dance VTs were interesting to rewatch as well. No sugar coating, no taking each other to stupid places and badly scripted never-seen-fish-and-chips before. No dead relatives and weeping and wailing.
There were arguments and tetchy moments. It was all so very real compared to now.

I really miss the proper VTs! Arguments, technical explanations... bring em back, I say.

kazzaD66 · 30/11/2022 18:00

I remember a particularly sharp argument between Matt and Aliona in training, shown on the VT, where he told her not to swear in his face, and he tried to explain it away to Claudia on ITT the following week Grin

Yes! Brenda having a strop or James Jordon being an arsehole critical. Anything but sodding nose boops & love heart poses. Boak.

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/11/2022 18:12

@mrstea301 I believe she's got a musical theatre background possibly stage school.
