Is True Blood suitable for a 14 year old?

My 14 year old has an obsession with vampires and has discovered she can stream True Blood on our Tv. I've never seen it, I doubt it's anything too terrifying but can anyone who's a fan let me know if it's unsuitable? Thanks.

No its way too sexual. I remember one episode vampire Bill was having sex with a vampire he couldn't stand, so twisted her head / neck 180 degrees so he didn't have to look at her face.

The only thing I remember IS the sex.

God no! Not in a million years. Very severe violence, gore and lots of sex. Very disturbing in parts.

More of a vampire themed sex show than anything else, wouldn’t recommend for under 18! Vampire diaries and originals are good though. Although I’m sure your teen has already found those. Other than that I’d work my way through Buffy and Angel.

Also if she will read I loved the Anne Rice books at her age! The movie versions are rubbish though.

I watched it when I was around 14 but I was quite used to watching mature stuff and I probably wouldn’t let my own kid watch it at 14. Vampire diaries and buffy very good programmes that are more age appropriate

There’s also the vampire that painfully looses her virginity, but then it ‘grows back’ because she’s undead and she’s fairly traumatised by it. Probably not great for someone who’s (hopefully) not lost it yet

Also a scene where a newsreader gets their spine ripped out on TV, one where a vampire dismembers a man in a basement and another man uses his hip bone to get out of his own manacles, and the vampires don't burn, they explode into blood and guts.
18 certificate is well earned!

Ooh True Blood is brilliant (and Eric is divine) but I agree there’s way too much sex and gore or a 14 year old. It goes Buffy and Twilight at 14, then graduate to True Blood at 18 imo.

Nothing will ever surpass the mighty Buffy though!

I wouldn't say so, it's quite graphic but I would say the books are great and so much better than the series and not as graphic. So she could definitely read them

Well I watched it at that age. I'd say it depends on the maturity of the 14 year old.

I've just gone to watch Episode 1 on my parent's TV and it's PIN protected 😂😂😂

It seems like the first couple of series were 15s though so maybe I stopped before the... spine ripping.
