Of course they won't. It's Emmerdale. Back in the noughties they had Jason who was gay and just treated like anyone else no big deal. Then they decided that gay meant angst and depression and had Aaron's story. They're going backwards compared to the real world.

Oh Arthur, I’m glad Nicola just hugged him.

Forgive a question as I’ve only really started watching recently, I didn’t know Nicola and Arthur were so close?

@FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge Arthur and nicola were playing hangman. His answer spelled I am gay. She hugged him, was really nice and encouraging and he said he was worried about being bullied if it cane out. She promised to keep secret. At that moment her son came into the room, unnoticed, saw her consoling him and saw his note on the table. Now I'm worried.

Oh no…I got as far as the hangman.

I hope this doesn’t turn shitty. I thought that was beautifully and uniquely done.

She's best friends with Laurel @FarmCat31 so I guess they're close from that

I’m not always a fan of Nicola but she was fantastic tonight.

When Nicola is good she’s good, I hope Elliot is not going to be a little shit but can see where it’s doing to end up

I had a feeling they were going down that road with Arthur, I actually got upset because he was so upset, poor Arthur, and I really hope Elliot doesn't tell everyone, I love Arthur he's great 😊

It was great in Classic how Jason was gay and it was just accepted. I like him - he was a really good character and took whining Latisha away.

Sadly I agree that Elliot is going to blab and cause bother for Arthur. This is a sensitive issue that lots of teens must struggle with, I hope that, what could have been a really good storyline isn't going to be hijacked into causing ridicule and shame for poor Arthur.

I hope they're not going to make Elliot into a dickhead now. He was a really funny, likeable character.

I've come on to ask where tonight's is? If they've put the weeks on itv hub previously don't know why they couldn't just do that until the end of the cup instead of missing the odd night.

The scenes between Nicola and Arthur were well done and moving. I like the character development with both of them, especially seeing Nicola as a trusted aunt type figure. Her care for Arthur makes sense because of her friendship with Laurel, and he is also the little brother of her niece Gabby.

Of all the dozens of 'coming out' stories Emmerdale has done, this one was one of the better ones. But there have been so
many! They have practically the whole of lgbtqia covered...so to me it was a bit samey and disappointing that the big reveal on what's up with Arthur is that he's.... gay. Like every second Emmerdalian. <shrug>

Over the years they've also had Zoe Tate, Paul the drag queen (Val's son), all of Aaron's exes who became villagers, Robert Sugden, Finn Barton, Luke who was with Victoria... Which is fine, great, whatever.. but its hardly a plot twist at this stage, is it? Or a story in itself?

@JaneJeffer the big bugger 😡 he’s only saying that because he played to a half empty Teca. Bear Scotland in their infinite wisdom blocked full lanes on the duel carriageway that day. Nobody to be seen working on it. People were dumping their cars and trotting down the dueller in a vain attempt to get there. And failed.

Andre Rieu might have a point though. Irish people are lovely. I’ll change his mind when I see him next year 😁
