The scenes between Nicola and Arthur were well done and moving. I like the character development with both of them, especially seeing Nicola as a trusted aunt type figure. Her care for Arthur makes sense because of her friendship with Laurel, and he is also the little brother of her niece Gabby.
Of all the dozens of 'coming out' stories Emmerdale has done, this one was one of the better ones. But there have been so
many! They have practically the whole of lgbtqia covered...so to me it was a bit samey and disappointing that the big reveal on what's up with Arthur is that he's.... gay. Like every second Emmerdalian. <shrug>

Over the years they've also had Zoe Tate, Paul the drag queen (Val's son), all of Aaron's exes who became villagers, Robert Sugden, Finn Barton, Luke who was with Victoria... Which is fine, great, whatever.. but its hardly a plot twist at this stage, is it? Or a story in itself?
