Hated Chris Hollins and don't much care for Ola Jordan either. Ricky Whittle should have won. His cha cha:)

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/11/2022 12:29

I was initially a Brian and Ali voter but did end up voting Ricky and Natalie near the end in a futile attempt to foil Hollins!

(He has just been Bloody Hollins in this house for years, the same as Tom Chambers is Smugface Chambers)

I feel a bit sorry for Tony. 2 weeks ago everyone loved him and wanted him to stay despite him being not as good as the others. Now all the other mediocre dancers are out people are gunning for Tony and want him out. He can't help being popular. And after all, as has happened many times, the technically best dancer rarely wins.

I have voted for Tony in previous week's because he wasn't always the worst dancer, I admire his work ethic and he has genuinely entertained me (his Hot Stuff routine had me laughing hard). I hope he comes out fighting this weekend to silence all the critics (but I do think he's reached as far as he can go).

Well, what a weird week on Strictly.
Ellie T did NOT deserve a 3 for that rumba, specially as Tony then got a 4. I hope production had a serious word to Craig about that.
Tyler is consistently overpraised IMO. I thought his hold was stiff and he was looming over Dianne.
Molly and Carlos were just sickly. I think they're going for the Rose and Gio vibe from last year, but they just don't have the same chemistry; it's not authentic at all. Having said that, if Molly was saying 'Sorry' and 'Are you alright?' to Ellie at the end (I didn't see), then credit to her; that's very classy.

Helen was OK but I think she still needs to commit properly. OTOH Gorka was HAWT, and I don't usually like him that much. Has he done many jives? It felt like I was watching a different/unfamiliar style for him, and I loved it.
Hamza was good and he is an adorable, sunny person, but I'm not sure about the 10s. I'm happy for him though; I like him and Jowita.
Kym was good, but again I feel like she hasn't 100% arrived yet. I'm warming to Graziano though; his personality seems to be coming out more.
Will and Nancy: meh. I'm bored by Will now and just watch Nancy, who is terrific.
Fleur and Vito were good. She's a beautiful ballroom dancer. Agree I'd like to see her in a more fitted ballroom dress; I think they're trying to contrast her 'fierce' Latin persona with a sweet floaty ballroom character, but it's a bit sickly. I'd love to see her looking properly elegant and foxy, like Ginger Rogers. Vito's parents are so glam. Puts the Brits to shame!
Ellie S and Nikita were excellent and Ellie's dress/hair/make-up were all top-drawer. Gutted for them.
Tony was rubbish.

I'm usually the first to defend the popularity-contest side of Strictly, and I admit I'm biased because I love Ellie and Nikita, but I've had enough of Tony now. He's sweet, open and committed, and God he tries, but there's no WAY Ellie S should have gone home this week. I strongly disagree with people saying she'd gone as far as she could; I think she still had a lot more to show us.
Nikita deserves a LOT of credit for his choreography, and for his courtesy, respect, support and love for Ellie. He wrote a beautiful post on Instagram after the show. I liked him last year too, unlike a lot on here; I remember Tilly being unconfident and getting flak about her weight etc, and he came across as very supportive and sweet. But he's seriously shone this year. And he's only about 24!

My two fave jives from Gorka were with Alexandra Burke (Proud Mary) and Maisie (Little Shop of Horrors during movie week). When he is partnered with a good/great dancer, his own jive can be that much more energetic - he doesn't have to hold back.

I agree with everthing you said about Nikita. I am also in the #Nikitafanclub.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/11/2022 13:25

I wonder if the "Tony out" backlash is actually against the "all Arsenal supporters are voting en masse" thing, which is seen as unfair?

DameHelena · 08/11/2022 13:41

cordelia16, Nikita fans unite!

MavisChunch29 · 08/11/2022 13:47

I've voted for Tony in previous weeks as I really enjoyed the routine Katya put together and how Tony executed it, he seems a nice man and is having fun in the competition. But the salsa was a car crash, he was by far the worst and should have been in the dance off.

The problem is that the Arsenal block vote are voting for him regardless of how he performed and they have fixed the competition for him to win. They have millions of fans worldwide. Manchester United have considerably more fans worldwide in spite of being currently 5th in the PL. How would it be if regardless of wins/losses we all vote for them to win the Premier League?

Possibly. But you could use the same argument for any of the celebrity dancers with their fan base couldn't you?

PrincessScarlett · 08/11/2022 13:49

Maybe everyone is just a bit shocked how popular Tony still is so many years after he retired as a footballer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Topgub · 08/11/2022 13:50

Do people actually think football fans care about strictly ?

Tell me that you have not read any comments from Arsenal fans on social media about how they are going to fix Strictly this year without telling me.

MavisChunch29 · 08/11/2022 13:55

By the way, I am a football fan and a Strictly fan.

Once I was out for the Strictly final and recorded it, getting home in time for Match of the Day. Gary fucking Lineker gave away the Strictly result. Fuming!

Goodbye Molly 😓

Topgub · 08/11/2022 14:02

Ah c'mon.

Thats ridiculous

I predict molly and Tony in the dance off.

Tony to go.

PrincessScarlett · 08/11/2022 14:05

Oh Christ, why on earth do they keep persisting with the rumba when everyone does so badly with it?

I've not read the stuff online about the Arsenal fans talking of fixing Strictly. Tony is such a nice man that I think if this goes on too long and he's obviously the worst dancer, he will bow out gracefully as he will see how unfair it is. Katya on the other hand would be spitting feathers !! 🤣

Lentilweaver · 08/11/2022 14:08

Topgub · 08/11/2022 14:04

I predict molly and Tony in the dance off.

Tony to go.

Could be Molly and Fleur again. Rumbas and sambas are the dances of death.
Ellie T should be safe with a Charleston even though it is the dance of death this year!

They better not save Tony over Molly just because he's nice and she supposedly isn't.

MavisChunch29 · 08/11/2022 14:10

Yes, I hope Tony does a John Sergeant if it carries on. Personally I couldn't carry on knowing that people were purposefully skewing the voting.

Arsenal will start to bottle the PL by Christmas anyway 😅

Topgub · 08/11/2022 14:13

@Lentilweaver

Could be bit I think fleur is well suited to a samba

Orangebadger · 08/11/2022 14:21

To be honest, I found it really difficult watching her and Nikita dance because of the height disparity. He did his best, but she would have been better partnered with someone like Janette Manrara (if JM were still dancing). It was hard sometimes not to think he was flinging a doll around, which for me detracted from Ellie's admirable efforts while also weirdly making me feel like a bad person.
*
@Alcemeg I feel exactly the same. Feel very bad for thinking this but I didn't enjoy watching them at all therefore never really appreciated it at all!

xsquared · 08/11/2022 14:37

Samba and Rumba are usually the cursed dances and ones where judges score low on.

Maybe Molly will get a low scoring Rumba and get the sympathy vote like Ellie did. On the other hand, it's Carlos' favourite dance so he should want to make it look extra good?

It will be interesting if it was Molly vs Fleur but I really do think it's Tony's time to go.

Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton had Tony's jive music for their Showdance, which, if I remember, was very underwhelming.

MavisChunch29 · 08/11/2022 15:14

Really? I love Land of a Thousand Dances and don't recall anything underwhelming by Kevin and Stacey.

I am suitably whelmed. There was a lot of faffing and showboating but their enjoyment was infectious and the actual dancing very good. Katya will do something along those lines.

Misread Hamza as being scheduled to dance to "Jerusalem"

Was happily singing "And did those feet, in 2:4 time . . ."

Was quite dashed . . .
