(Or Tony and anybody except Fleur or Ellie T, (they've both suffered enough blows to their confidence) really - I love Tony and he has great entertainment value, but I think we need to be getting down to dancers rather than entertainers.)

I've thought about it and I actually don't mind at all who goes "tonight".

Len has just told us the rules.

1. No lifts
2. In ballroom dances you must maintain hold. You can have a bit out of hold at the beginning and end, but the rest of the time you have to be in hold.

That's gone out of the window recently!

Len would have got very pissy with all the rule breaking nowadays 🤣

I like Neil but think they took him on when they only really wanted Katya, same as Chloe when they only really wanted AJ. I also think production took on Vito as potential eye-candy, as opposed to Michael, who didn't make the cut. Attractiveness of pros should not be a thing (see early series) but has increasingly become part of it, as has social media presence.

Those that wanted to watch DWTS btw, there is a complete Halloween episode on youtube (although having seen the dances, back to basics they're not). There are a couple of diamonds though. Will mosey over to Polka's thread in a while. xx

There were a lot of lifts in Ellie and Nikita’s dance last night - there definitely used to be limits but I’m guessing not anymore?

I've got the DVDs from about the first 6-7 series. Might sit and watch them all in cosy nostalgia.

Charleston doesn't count - speciality dance - as many lifts as you want! (was introduced to the show later).

Agree re: the Old Ways being the Good Ways.

It was possible to enjoy proper dancing rather than just watch a sort of terpsichorean variety show,

I used to love it when Len, Arlene and Craig enforced The Rules, and also gave good, constructive criticism.

I loved it when there were No Favourites (that we could see)

I loved it when half the dancers did a waltz and the other half a samba (or whatever), and then they swapped the following week - you could compare like with like, and could also easily see who was improving and who had reached their limits.

I loved it when Wardrobe Department showed the sketches for the dresses and explained why they had chosen a particular style/colour for Competitor X in Dance Y, and talked about different materials, rather than trawling jumble sales and robbing the kids' dressing up box which is what they seem to do now.

I WANT THE GOOD OLD DAYS BACK!

I’d actually really like to see Neil with a short sleb who has a bit of dancing talent and a wicked sense of humour. I always feel a bit sorry for the partner-less pros who are just left with group dances and the occasional turn in front of a guest singer on a ‘Sunday’, seems a bit of a waste.

how about Scarlett Moffat? Bit of dance background, not professional or anything, sense of humour and not too tall? Would have a solid fan base too.

Just caught up having been unable to watch last night. Thought Claudia had come in her Christmas pjs and Shirley also looked like she was wearing swanky lounging clothing.
