YEY. just seen the new season is starting 23 October. I binge watched the others earlier in the month so can’t wait for it to start again. The ending was a shocker that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see where they’re taking it. Will serena joy get let go because she was under his orders AND she’s having a baby. Or will she get put into jail and baby taken away when he’s born.

Could do with a few less up close scary June faces as always.

But that was really well done. The bit about paying the fine actually made me laugh out loud. Also liked the Canadian guy's quip about not letting the bustards grind you down.

It kind of feels like it's all building back up to them all being back in Gilead though

I thought this was the last one, but I think some one said there's going to be a 6th?

Much as I love it, I'm not sure I can cope with another 2 series

Iirc they have confirmed 6 series for the handmaid's tale.

The testaments will be a separate programme.

I've watched up to episode 7, but might watch at uk pace too.

This needs to be the last really.

Yes, I know the testaments is separate but it's the same story/universe so it can't be completely separate?

Like if THMT ends with June single handedly destroying Gilead, then obviously that has repercussions for TT.

Unless they just pretend they're not related?

There's been talk of The Testaments being filmed separately.

Oh yes, obviously they are 'linked' but I think they are making it a series called "The Testaments " rather than being THMT series 7.

I don't think it will end with June destroying Gilead. It couldn't, could it? The Testaments just won't work if it does.

When Tuello tells Fred (S4 finale) that he's being sent to Gilead as part of a prisoner exchange, he says that Gilead has promised to try Fred "under their justice system". They could have done anything - execution, prison, colonies, even possibly a deal or pardon - but they definitely were assuming he was a traitor, and Fred knew that.

And I just remembered thar Nick has apparently told his wife everything? That seems like a weird choice

I read somewhere that Margaret Atwood wrote the testaments (in a rush IMO) so that she got to finish the story rather than the TV writers so I would hope that the HMT TV series doesn't try and wrap the whole thing up their way.

I forgot Nick was married and I missed the bit with his wife. Think I'm gonna need to rewatch this episode tomorrow when I'm less distracted.

Why does Serena think she'll get a great reception in Gilead? The Waterford name, blah blah. They were going to try him as a traitor! At best, she would live a quiet life alone with her child (possibly married off to someone else), at worst they'd take her baby and make her a handmaid.
I'm worried one of the pro-Gilead crazies in Canada might try to get revenge on June.

Halfway through the first episode. Fuck sake June, would you just hop in the shower. I can't be bothered with this attention-seeking nonsense.

I found it a bit boring and June gets on my nerves now, with her face twitching and pearl clutching.
I was also thinking 'oh just take a damn shower'. It all seemed rather self-indulgent.
