YEY. just seen the new season is starting 23 October. I binge watched the others earlier in the month so can’t wait for it to start again. The ending was a shocker that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see where they’re taking it. Will serena joy get let go because she was under his orders AND she’s having a baby. Or will she get put into jail and baby taken away when he’s born.

Is raiding a school in Gilead really a good idea? I’m surprised June thinks so. I hope they know what they’re doing Confused

Is Lawrence now being allowed in because he's moved up in the world? I still have issues with who's in charge. They're acting like Lawrence and co are in charge of the whole country but in a previous series, we saw the Waterfords go to Washington where we saw a higher level of politicians. Hmph.

I agree with this and with PP saying too many sharks being jumped. M

Love this show, but so disappointed with this season.

I agree. Season 1 was absolutely bloody brilliant and subsequent seasons have got progressively worse although I would say this season is better than 4. I still keep watching because I ve invested so much time and energy in to it and because of how much I loved season 1.

dapsnotplimsolls · 11/12/2022 23:44

Just be glad they're not going with the original plan of 10 seasons.

VivienneDelacroix · 12/12/2022 00:50

Tuello is lying surely, to keep June onside?

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/12/2022 03:55

I assumed they were meeting somewhere in No Mans Land just over the border, rather than Lawrence going into Canada. They don't need to show us all that, we know it's a thing.

I don't grasp why June hasn't seen the huge flaw in a raid... on a school.. full of kids... and military and fighting and weapons and trigger happy Guardians ... surely the risks are so very very high there, it is not something to leap and jump about but something to worry about and hope, quietly!

What does he need June for now?

OhAmBackAgain · 12/12/2022 07:48

What does he need June for now?

to stop her going to new bethlehem, because as he said to her, she is such an icon that if she returns many many other refugees (American citizens) will follow, if it's safe enough for her ect...

he was telling luke as June walked in that lots of families had already expressed interest in new bethelhem.

whats left of the American government needs as many citizens as possible to still be able to function and be considered still a country/government.

But with no land to call America and the refugees(American citizens) being hounded by the Canadians, Tuello/America is endanger of losing a significant amount of its population, as they up sticks and follow June for a fairy tale ending in big houses in a quiet place.

Fritilleries · 12/12/2022 08:40

Poor Noah, cry it out is horrible. Clever writing!

CruCru · 12/12/2022 09:06

I quite like that the Canadians have had enough of the Americans but it’s weird that they know where they live. It would be more realistic to have demonstrations in the city centre.

CruCru · 12/12/2022 09:17

I wonder if Joseph Lawrence (and Nick) will be executed. New Bethlehem sounds a pile of nonsense.

CyanCyan · 12/12/2022 09:19

Exactly! Confused They’re not just going to hand over the future wives. There will be bloodshed, no doubt with children as collateral damage.

I hate myself for saying it but I felt bad for Serena. And poor Noah. I do like Alanis and the faces she pulls though.

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/12/2022 10:59

Ahh... @OhAmBackAgain yes that makes sense, thankyou, I really wasn't seeing that.

How could anyone ever trust Gilead, move to New Bethlehem and then once settled, they change all the rules, won't let you out and if they did nowhere else lets you in as you CHOSE to go back there...

How come the Wheelers ended up with Noah, I thought he'd be in foster care in Canada, I don't understand what claim the Wheelers have there to keep him. However seeing Serena struggling with the idea that she DOES now have to play the handmaid role... that is good, eliciting sympathy from me for her I didn't think I could have (but mixed with a lot of 'you made your bed... ')

The cry it out stuff had me raging, a newborn, fgs!

cushioncovers · 12/12/2022 12:09

Just finished yesterday's episode and thought it was brilliant. Again.

EmpressaurusOfWitchesBackFromTheDead · 12/12/2022 13:45

Wheeler might have been convinced by Serena’s apology but there’s no way Alannis was.

CruCru · 12/12/2022 15:19

I’d like to find out what has happened to Aunt Lydia and Janine. Ann Dowd is an absolutely superb actress.

I thought Alannis’ setting out the criteria for Serena being back in the house ( you do the feeding, I do everything else) was a bit familiar, then remember it was almost exactly the same as the house rules Serena imposed when June lived in her house…..

Showing again how the men in Gilead underestimate the maternal bond mothers have.

Aunt Lydia is my favourite character in this show. I love her and hate her in equal measure, I'm sure this is down to the actress, she is fantastic.

LadyEloise1 · 12/12/2022 17:22

Yes she is

Crinkle77 · 12/12/2022 17:50

We haven't seen enough of Nick, Lawrence, Lydia and Janine this series. They just don't seem to have much point. We've seen a bit more of Lawrence but I want to know about what's going on with these characters.

I think what we have seen of Lydia & Janine's been pretty significant though. Maybe sowing seeds for how things are going to change.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is June telling Serena "I'm a better Christian than you are." It was brief, but Serena looked as if she'd been punched. I think that must have really shaken her worldview.

TheBelmont · 12/12/2022 19:10

I loved Lawrence in this episode. Confirmed all I thought in his conversation with June.

What did you think? I can’t figure his character out

CruCru · 12/12/2022 19:35

I wonder if he is actually a bit unstable. In season 3 the focus was on his wife (who was mentally ill) but I wonder whether he hasn't been driven mad by Gilead. If I were the other commanders, I would plot to oust him. Should he bring in reforms (which would undo the work that Gilead has done), the more fundamentalist commanders will be quite unsafe.
