YEY. just seen the new season is starting 23 October. I binge watched the others earlier in the month so can’t wait for it to start again. The ending was a shocker that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see where they’re taking it. Will serena joy get let go because she was under his orders AND she’s having a baby. Or will she get put into jail and baby taken away when he’s born.

They do it episode by episode, which is great for avoiding spoilers, and sometimes have actors on as guest stars.

Yes it was date, I was too busy on MN at the time so wasn’t concentrating on that scene

Can anyone remind/explain to me - why would the people in Gilead let Serena and her baby leave and go back to Canada? What reason do they have for agreeing to this?

They must have done some kind of deal with Tuello / Canada but I can see them finding an excuse not to stick to it.

They'd rather trade with Canada than be at war with them?

I can't tell if they think Serena wants to go back to Canada - which would anger the Gileadans - or that she is being forced to - which would make them want to save her.
And of course the baby, who they'll view as a Gileadan citizen.

For the love of god, get that woman to a counsellor.

I also can't understand how Nick & especially Commander Lawrence haven't been on the wall!

Men in power & no proof of anything although I did think it was sounding like Lawrence's time was getting close when Putnam made reference to him not following Gilead's ways by not having a wife etc.

I never understand how Aunt Lydia keeps being charged with 'training' new handmaids.

I love the character and think Ann Dowd is awesome but Lydia's track record with handmaids is really bad, including June stealing all those children, and now Esther's suicide/murder (attempt?).

But they keep giving her more to look after

I always imagine that there are far worse aunts and Handmaids, we just don't see them, so Lydia's success rate is probably about right given she's had a few pregnancies in the mix.

They retired Aunt Lydia in season 4 but she negotiated with Joseph Lawrence to come back.

Lawrence has dirt on the other commanders thanks to Lydia.

Oh I so love it. Had to wait for DD to get back from Uni this weekend to watch the two episodes together. Just when you think its slow and has lost its edge bam they throw in that last scene, maybe Luke will become as angry as June now? I don't care how far fetched it is I am still gripped on every series.

It looked a bit odd at the funeral when Lawrence & Nick were walking ahead of the other commanders - I’d have thought Putnam would have taken the place of honour.

I don't know. Surely she knew Mayday was a real thing?

Yes me too. They thought Mayday was made up but surely she must have realised before now it was real?
