Are there any spooky dramas coming up over Halloween?

I think it was last year we had that drama The Sister on ITV over the half term/Halloween week.

It was quite spooky. Does anyone know if there's going to be anything similar this year?

Would like something good to watch but not a full on horror movie.

Ffs red rose here

I recently finished The Devil in Ohio and enjoyed it, quite creepy a little bit cheesy in places but overall good

GinandTonic1975 · 13/10/2022 14:36

Forgot to say it's on Netflix

TitsInAbsentia · 13/10/2022 19:07

I liked the Devil in Ohio, wasn't keen on Red Rose, gave up after two eps.

Was coming on to say about the Cabinet of Curiosities which is now on the Netflix coming soon list, along with The Haunting of Margam Castle ("A team of American parapsychologists run afoul of vengeful spirits while conduction research at an abadoned castel rumoured to be haunted") and the Curst of Hobbes House ("Two estranged sisters must stay at their late aunt's mansion to claim their inheritence but they find more death in the house than they bargained for") along with a couple of other things although they look a bit more teen market like the Midnight Club perhaps.

I’ve just finished epi 2 of TheWatcher and it’s definitely creepy. I’m enjoying it so far. It’s not scary (yet) but will definitely keep on with it.

It's an MR James ghost story all done in 30 minutes. Creepy and weird no hotties though I'm afraid.

I was thinking about this the other day , I watched it last Christmas purely because Rory Kinnear is in it .
Weird and a bit eh?

Ghost Stories from 2017 (Martin Freeman is in it ) is worth a watch

Pumpkinspiceandallthingsnice · 14/10/2022 09:23

I forgot that I'd started this thread.

Thanks, I fancy The Watcher but it looks a bit too spooky so I'm not sure!

I've just finished the watcher, it does have a few jump scares but otherwise not that scary, felt it was much more of a mystery drama really.

I watched The Haunting of Bly Manor last year. I do NOT recommend it if you don't like jump scares. There was one that actually made me feel ill. Think I'm getting too old for them. I love spooky films though. I quite liked the Mezzotint. I love Behind her Eyes on netflix.

I didn't watch Behind Her Eyes but I read the book about 5 years ago and it was bloody brilliant.

I love Ghost Stories even though it scared the absolute crap out of me. I enjoyed the Midnight Club, I'm hoping there's a second season as the ending was wide open.

Did anyone watch Dead Set years ago - 2008? Fictional Big Brother series when a zombie apocalypse happens on the outside when the contestants are in the Big Brother house? It was brilliant and worth a watch 👍🏼

blackberrybat · 20/10/2022 06:57

I think there is an adaptation of the House of Usher coming to Netflix soon which sounds good. Its Mike Flanagan i think so I have high hopes but that said I'm hugely disappointed by the Midnight Club, gave up after 3 episodes

Nitgel · 20/10/2022 07:04

Midnight Mass on netflix is great

Guillermo del Toro has a bunch of short stories out on netflix.

Yy to Rory Kinnear!!

GinandTonic1975 · 27/10/2022 13:55

I'm currently watching Chapelwaite on Paramount, stars Adrian Brody him and his family move to a family ancestral home and all sort of strange things start happening, very creepy with a gothic feel, set in the 1850's

snowstorm2012 · 27/10/2022 16:43

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz I might watch it again, it's been a few years since I have 😃

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 27/10/2022 17:12

Haunting of Hill House is very good, the ending for one of the sisters is actually incredibly sad.

I read the book after and actually didn't enjoy it as much as the tv adaptation which is unusual

TitsInAbsentia · 27/10/2022 21:32

Arghhhh don't have Paramount but Chapelwaite looks good, I'll have to find a weekend when I'm not doing much and get the 7 day trial!
