This is not a place to debate the rights and wrongs of drag, comments on this subject will be reported for deletion. The Feminism forum (where you will often find me, feminists can like drag too) is that way ->

Week 2 thoughts? I thought the right person went but I thought the bottom two should have been the other bottom Queen.

The right team won too!

A very well deserved win tonight. Massive amounts of love to the person who went home.

Danny’s outfit … in-cred-i-ble

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 21/10/2022 19:21

Oh I did not expect that ending 😢 look after yourself petal, you did yourself proud. No shame hitching a lift home if you’ve gone as far as you need to go.

you are fabulous if you read this x

I can see that I’m swimming against the tide here but I kind of wished that Mo’nique Heart had been there. To say, as she did to Farrah Moan on AllStars 4, “your crying is annoying me”.

It’s certainly annoying me. Pixie whinging because she didn’t win last week or this week when she thought that she should have. Get over it. Dakota whining because “I got the worst critiques”. Baby’s dramatic exit: attention seeking. Fair enough if she wasn’t coping, but if you want to leave the competition, just leave.

Totally agree with you. I hate all the self-absorbed crying. It’s a competition, not everyone can win.

Nail on head Wombat. I'm sad about the girl who left. Hopefully she can sort her head out! X

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 22/10/2022 17:52

I can see that Danny's outfit was incredible - but in the past, haven't Queens been marked down for wearing "fancy dress" rather than drag?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/10/2022 21:50

I want Danny to win.

Iamthewombat · 25/10/2022 10:17

He’s a bit too similar to The Vivienne for me. In the words of Bianca Del Rio on US Season 6: you ain’t going to win Drag Race by being Jinkx Monsoon!

I loved his Audrey costume though.

winewolfhowls · 25/10/2022 22:01

I want cheddar to win, their commentary is funny.

PollyDarton1 · 26/10/2022 12:09

I am loving Danny, I find them more relatable than Vivienne (although rewatching S1 a few weeks ago made me warm to her more). Cheddar is stunning and dry. I'm worried about Le Fil - I didn't think she deserved to be in the bottom and I'm concerned she's out next with the low key edit.

My top two are definitely Danny and Cheddar. Would be happy with Black Pepper and Dakota in the final too.

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 20:31

Top 3 for me would be Danny, Cheddar and Le Fil I think, although Pixie might beat them. Would not be surprised to see Dakota go tonight, unless she surprises in Snatch game, then Jonbers next week and Black Peppa the week after.
Jonbers Blonde is a shit name, but her real drag name was Jonbenet Blonde (not much better). Had to change it as in poor taste (Jonbenet Ramsey). Same as Sister Sister was Sister Fybrosis (blue lips).
Le Fil did not deserve bottom three last week. Baby's exit was obviously agreed with producers rather than spontaneous, but at least it gave Dakota another week. I like them but Dakota Schiffer also crap name, whereas Dakota Fanny would make me laugh. I do like a fanny joke (hence my love for Ghosts).

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 21:57

spoiler
I take it back. Dakota was better than most of them. Jonbers did what Ru wanted. It went against Danny. He should have done Bruno Tonioli and fallen off his chair. Cheddar won Snatch game imho.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 27/10/2022 22:09

Wait whaaaaaaaaat?!

chocolateisavegetable · 27/10/2022 22:20

Well the winner tonight couldn’t have deserved it more. HILARIOUS and that runway look … just, wow

very sad though to see someone who should have sailed through the challenge second guessing them-self and getting in their head

Soontobe60 · 27/10/2022 22:25

Just out of curiosity, what grounds would MN Mods have to delete a post that said they thought drag was (insert any negative adjective of your choice)?

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 22:57

Derailing soon
Happens on all the fan threads and it is always clear that we are here just to discuss the show, hence it being in telly addicts. I am always more than happy to join in any debate on drag if it is in AIBU or feminism, but not on here.

spoilers

Gutted but not surprised Le Fil went. It would have been piss funny, had Marie Kondo been a hoarder with a handbag full of shite, that would have been good.
I loved them though so sad for them, as they always turned it out on the runway.
I hated Peppa's Simpson look but they did look great as Lil Naz, even if they couldn't find a twist.

Danny was shite as Cilla. They were lucky to be safe. Ru seems to like Scottish and Irish accents. Jonbers did what they were told and used every cliche going.
Their runways do not impress me though.

Loved Cheddar's Act Up outfit. In Manchester Tickled Pink festival was pre-Pride (around 93). Cheddar was born in 1984 and would only have been two when the tombstone/iceberg ads came out, so not sure they would have remembered them at time. They are not wrong about inherited stigma though.
The outfit was inspired and the message in the vt that U=U is a good one, as not everyone remembers that campaign. I'd like to have seen a reminder that PrEP doesn't protect you from other STIs though, given the increase in chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and syphilis. I still preach condoms to all my lot.

I am amazed that RuPaul did not force encourage Le Fil to do their posh, given Mel B was on the panel and with the choice of lip sync. Maybe that's what did for her (not taking advice/being told). I wish Ru would not do that. They ought to be allowed to do who they want.

SequinsandStilettos · 27/10/2022 23:06
Pixie was aiming for Matt Lucas I think!
lovelychops · 28/10/2022 00:03

I absolutely love Dakota! She is stunning. Like a 60's movie star.
I can't warm to cheddar or jonbers and I'm not that fussed on black pepper either... Danny Beard is brilliant such a shame he went to shite in the snatch game. I thought Dakotas scouse accent was better than Danny's. Pixie is OK but again awful in the snatch game.

Who was the guest judge - the stunning actress last week in the pvc?

VickyGiggIesStrictlyHaIIoweenHorrors · 28/10/2022 01:21

Hannah Waddingham. She is in Ted Lasso. Brilliant musical theatre singer and actress.

Iamthewombat · 28/10/2022 09:35

I found last night a bit preachy TBH. Where was the joy?

SealSquish · 28/10/2022 10:54

I thought Cheddar was great last night, a well deserved win! Dakota surprised me, a lot better than I expected - I’ve really warmed to her over the weeks.

gutted Le Fil has gone, I felt he was really under appreciated through the series, his art and fashion is fantastic. Though he didn’t do well in snatch game so it wasn’t a surprise he was in the bottom this week. I’m sure he’ll continue to do well in his career though.

I really don’t ‘get’ black peppa. I think they always look really unfinished and never quite hit it for me.

VickyGiggIesStrictlyHaIIoweenHorrors · 28/10/2022 12:35

I think any messaging makes it harder to critique, whether it's indigenous rights in RP down under or BLM in RP US, and Michelle's expression was interesting when Cheddar appeared. The silence=death/pink triangle reappropriation was brilliant at a time when so many were being let down by the Reagan administration (Gran Fury knew art, graphics, marketing were key). Condoms were launched over the gates at Strangeways by the UK activists (they used squash rackets), but none reached the inmates. All this was when Cheddar was a child though.
That said, as "It's a sin" showed last year, there are so many who don't know this stuff that giving it peak airtime is reasonable enough and while it might not have been joyous, Cheddar's outfit was iconic.
The only thing that still annoys me is the disparity between personal budgets - if all contestants got the same to spend, fair enough, but unless they sew or have designer friends then God knows how much they are investing to compete. (I assume Jonbers and Peppa have thrown less at it, so it makes for an unequal competition?).
Compare and contrast with an earlier season and it's clear how much the show has changed.

chocolateisavegetable · 28/10/2022 12:41

That is a very fair point about budgets.

I have grown to love Cheddar more and more during the season. They seem to be a genuinely lovely person in addition to being extremely talented.

Iamthewombat · 28/10/2022 15:54

It’s interesting that you should say that. When I watched Drag Race last night, I thought that all the history of, and messages about, HIV and AIDS had been so brilliantly conveyed by It’s A Sin that I didn’t see why Drag Race contestants needed to attempt it for themselves. Particularly where they hadn’t experienced it first hand and had been very young during the period being discussed, i.e. the late 1980s when the ‘Don’t die of ignorance’ adverts were shown.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/10/2022 16:33

why Is black pepper still there. I don’t understand why le fil went over black peppa. His wig really annoys me.

cheddar to win. Definitely.
