Is anyone else watching this on Disney +?

I started it out of curiosity as I enjoy Ryan Reynolds films but am captivated. It’s not what I expected and must be fantastic for the supporters and residents.

Yes it's fabulous and really interesting to see what life is like at a smaller club

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 19/09/2022 21:56

I watched it because of Rob as i'm a huge Always Sunny fan, wasn't at all what I expected but I love it.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 19/09/2022 21:57

Love it

Undervaluedandsad · 19/09/2022 22:01

My husband got me into it. I don’t enjoy football so was reluctant but I’m really enjoying the people/team/community aspect to the story.

SleepCheeseBeer · 19/09/2022 22:03

I love Ryan and love football so I was always going to watch this.

I find it funny and moving. I wish I didn't have to wait a week for another episode.

Jewel1968 · 19/09/2022 22:06

Yep. Same. I now feel I have to support Wrexham and I hate football 😁

Skinterior · 19/09/2022 22:10

DH and DS are football obsessed. This is the first time I've been able to engage.

Came for the Ryans, stayed for the club

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 19/09/2022 22:14

We are loving it too. To the extent that I've put all Wrexham's fixtures into my phone calendar so I can keep up with how they do!

(Totally didn't start watching it because of my humongous crush on Ryan Reynolds)

Frazzled2207 · 19/09/2022 22:36

I’m from near Wrexham and loving it

BorisIsATwat · 20/09/2022 05:40

My kids were born in Wrexham, went toUni there, and have always had an affinity with the place and football team. Rob and Ryan buying the club and immersing themselves in the community has been wonderful and given a little bit of pride back. Absolutely loving the programme!

MichaelAndEagle · 20/09/2022 22:16

Just found and started watching! Love it! I'm North Wales born and bred, but not living there now.

Jewel1968 · 21/09/2022 21:41

Just catching up with latest episode. Why do you think Ryan and Rob bought the club?

I find it fascinating and think I understand my football loving friends a bit better now. They are not sure how to take my recent interest in football. I love the way the programme assumes we know nothing about football which is true for me.

Skinterior · 21/09/2022 21:48

I wonder if they were sitting with the English writer talking about Ted Lasso and it spiralled from there.

Wonder if - given the sponsors and the Disney deal - it comes out fairly cost neutral for them. Didn't the pay £2 million?

More importantly, DS and DH both want this hat. What do you think are the chances of getting one before Xmas?

Welcome to Wrexham
Jewel1968 · 21/09/2022 22:04

Yeah I did wonder if they saw an opportunity to make money, do something different, have fun and support a town. As you say cost neutral.

No idea about hat.

Fluckle · 21/09/2022 22:10

I'm from Wrexham. Couldn't be prouder of my home town and team. I think it's made us all look at the place in a new light. The positivity in the town as a result of the football is amazing, loads of stuff happening on the back of it. We really needed it

Jewel1968 · 21/09/2022 22:21

The support for the team amongst the fans is really brought to life. I understand football better watching this than talking to my friends who support teams. Also the fact that it is their local team gives it more meaning somehow.

MichaelAndEagle · 22/09/2022 07:40

I don't think it goes much into why Wrexham specifically. But it does say in the first episode that Rob was talking to the English guy about the way the leagues work and how in theory it is possible for any team to get from the bottom to the top leagues. So I think Rob wanted to see if he could do it.
And he likes its a working class town with loyal supporters where there is so much love for the team, but that would be the same for a lot of teams.
Then he realised he'd need mega bucks, so that's why Ryan got involved. But God knows how he convinced him.
I love how the programme is going into the lives of the players and supporters too. Obviously with the players on very normal wages they must see them round and about all the time?

That's amazing.

I’m really enjoying it too. I am an Always Sunny fan too, so watching it mainly because of Rob.

I heard they were buying the team a couple of years ago and assumed they were good friends, so but I was surprised to learn from the documentary that they didn’t really know eachother before the venture

DreamingofItaly2023 · 22/09/2022 08:36

Wrexham is our nearest big town (nearest cinema etc) although still 45 mins away so we watched it for that but are now hooked.

SummerBummers · 24/09/2022 16:58

@Skinterior i believe those hats are available on the club shop webpage.

DH is a lifelong Wrexham fan and it loving the tv show.

princesssparklepants · 30/09/2022 19:56

Anyone want else want to scream at Saskia "leave the idiot!!!"
He won't change!!!

Ship · 30/09/2022 20:02

I’m from near wrexham! I know Some people who were on the programme. It’s been so exciting seeing what Rob and Ryan have done. My kids were born in wrexham and I work there. It’s been amazing for the place. It’s crazy to see wrexham becoming so well known! But great too. My ds is a huge fan of wrexham and has season tickets- he loves going with his dad and grandad to watch them.

Dodgygeezer · 30/09/2022 20:08

Its a great programme.

Suspect that this is some kind of elaborate tax write off though,

scryingeyes · 30/09/2022 20:35

Rob and Ryan are my heroes for putting Wales via Wrecsam on the map. I luvs them
